Nope, I mean Charon. He always used to shop up before the floor boss, but recently he has disappeared from that spot. Once in a while I do get his bag, but that is RNG.
If you're talking about the gold sack, it's only there in mid shops, never end shops, and it's a fairly low chance, maybe 10-20% of showing up?
Only guaranteed spot I've seen him in is before Hades.
So I've just been really unlucky I suppose. Kinda disheartening to see it happen.
I think the only exceptions might be if you enter a Chaos or Erebus portal right before the shop.
No, it's literally ALWAYS. There are NO exceptions. The room cannot be rerolled with Fated Persuasion and will be mandatory if it's the only door. You can take a free item instead if there are other doors, but the shop is ALWAYS offered, on every run, including the early runs with weird rules.
Should you enter a Chaos or Erebus gate right before the last shop (not the mid shop, only the last), the game literally just adds an extra room in, then offers the shop again, and all chambers will be shifted by 1 for the rest of the run.
I find I have a difficult time remembering random bits of info that don't connect to anything I know.
I remember when I started playing in early access I didn't immediately connect the door symbols to the rewards because I didn't know what they meant and since they were nonsense symbols to me at the time, I didn't remember what the symbols were by the end of the fight when I got the reward. It wasn't until after I started remembering what the symbols meant that the door symbols started making sense to me.
A combination of that, and the RNG of getting Charon as the only option at the end of a floor. I am currently only on my 20th run or so, and it took me until the 10th run or so to get a bearing on what all the doors icons meant. Until now I thought every single room was 100% RNG.
Sorry but just now i could only choose between the upgrade fruit and +25 health before entering the bone hydra fight. There was no charon choice.
Though this never happened in my earlier run so it might be depending on how many attempts you made or something.
I've never seen that happen in over 200 runs.
This is my first thought. Asphodel is notorious for having one exit from the rooms significantly separate from the others.
