Highly doubt it will ever happen. Specially, if you take into account other games release by Gigantic.

They like to focus on rich stories and character development. That would be diluted a lot of the game had co-op.

It would be a nice addition for people who have finished the story part of the game.

Is Hades a multiplayer game, or are there any plans for multiplayer?
Hades is a single-player game. We have no plans to add multiplayer, as we created the gameplay and narrative of Hades with a solo experience in mind.

that's a shame.. Ido believe that you can create a story rich game with a friend being part of that experience.. Co-op with a friend.. so both of you can enjoy the story that's told... I get that they think it will dilute it down to a simple hack and slash... but there's potential there.. if the co-op was done right... to ensure the naritive stays true to the essence of the game..

And i hope they stay that way, the more devs that focus on nice sp experiences, the better.

To be honest... the only reason why I would like it to be co-op.. is to be able to share some of the bad ass runs and experiences... I know there's social media as such.. but in-game interaction with other players is cool

Maybe not a co-op mode as such.. maybe a lobby of some sort.. before venturing out on your next run... I don't know.. just maybe some way for players to connect in the game...

Such an epic game... I'm excited to see what comes next for this game... :D.. Roguelike RPG's have been tried and tested before.. but dang..

Amazing Job!

A co-op mode would be fun, but I personally see kind of a weird problem with this. They have to add a whole new character just so that the friend of the host has someone to play. There can't be two Zagreus running around, that would mess with a game that has such a rich and detailed story. There would have to be someone that Hades could designate to "help" Zagreus on his runs on "strengthen the defences" or whatever.

Maybe Achilles could take on that role, and so Achilles and Zagreus are the ones running around in co-op mode. But a whole new character would probably suit the needs best. MAYBE I could see a "shadow/Shade" Zagreus, but for a game that has such a rich backstory for every NPC there would have to be so much work put into it to "fit" the story.

Maybe I'm just over analyzing this, but I think this could be a big problem as to why this mode won't be added :)

How so? A lot of great games have co-op. I don't know who started spreading these lies, but a lot of people keep talking about this without thinking.

Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Halo, Divinity... All of them have co-op. Do you really want to say Hades have a better story than all of these games?

Co-Op sounds pretty cool, actually! I wonder what would be the characters used for this, I don't think Supergiant is the type to just put tons of recolored Zags all over the place.

This quote is directly from the Supergiant Discord, in their Hades FAQ. There is zero intent to add multiplayer to the game.

Seems interesting, but there are concerns about it while player behaviours differently so handling these issue is really hard
Eg. one like to explore the room for coins after the battle ends, while another would like to continue battle asap in the next room, another will stuck in the "gamelobby" or whatsoever they call while waiting another player

And borderlands is working just like that. Has millions of fans of its multiplayer.
Problem solved.

I'm seeing requests for co-op quite often when it comes to singleplayer games in general, but y'all just have to accept that not every game has to be a multiplayer one. A pure singleplayer experience is always appreciated and hopefully Hades will stay singleplayer-only too, just like devs intended.

And yeah. your right.. I get it.. and it is amazing game as it is... it's so good.. that I would want to share with friends.. especially during such times... surely there is a way to share it with a friend without providing too many spoilers.. survival mode maybe?...
