How does Shattered shackle work?
I have shattered shackle that gives 40% extra damage for certain abilities if you don't have boon.
What is boon and how do I avoid using it?

boons are the buffs the gods give you: Shackle will provide it's bonus as long as you do not have a boon that benefits your Attack, Cast, or Special: if a boon has any of those keywords, the Shackle benefit is entirely useless

boons from Chaos count, but Hammer upgrades do not

keywords such as Dash-attack do not negate the Shackle's effects, so as long as you pick boons without those three words bolded, you retain the Shackle buff
Unless they changed it in the last update, all of your abilities get the shackle buff until it gets booned. I.E if you get a boon that empowers your cast, your special and attack will still retain the shackle buff and vice versa.

it doesn't: all your damage drops if you have even one of the keywords as a boon

i was thinking the same when i started using it but yeah, upgrading your cast will make all your damage tank so it must've been a later change

You're very wrong to think it's bad, you can clearly start with it and replace if you find better.
Ok 40% is kinda bad, but it's lvl 1, at lvl 3 you get 80%. In 3 categories nonetheless.

As for your artifact and gods you should pick it all depends on your weapon of choice and your playstyle.

i disagree with this, 'cause you can get frost attack and get it over 80% pretty easily even if it's common rarity, in addition to the considerable chill effect which even puts Hades to shame

Shackles feels like this noob trap where you forsake boons for that 80% buff, but the attack buffs the boons give you usually outweigh it, even if it's not 80%

You really, really do not want to walk into the first room of the run, see a good boon, and take a crappy passive instead just to keep Shackles on. They're garbage. They give you a bonus in Tartarus, the easiest part of the run, when you should be using that to take permanent bonuses like +gold, stacking feather bonuses, etc.

I haven't tested it personally but someone who had told me this is still the case.

This is what the give up option is for. If you give up, instead of dying you keep the dungeon seed. So if you walk out and get offered a good boon, you give up, swap your relic, and go from there.

Google "shattered shackle hades" - there will be a reddit post with a picture, should be good enough example.
It works separately, so if you change special - it'll still work for attack and cast.

You realize absolutely NOBODY (other than you) knows this, right?

I really have no clue what you are saying here. Are you being passive agressive? Are you doubting whether that's true or what?

It's advice I was given from a friend when I bought the game, and seems to be pretty common knowledge over on the Hades reddit, and among streamers.

i'm pretty sure a lot of people at least know about the first chamber always having the same god/hammer unless you die or use a god keepsake, lol
