Kraken, where'd he go?
I only beat the kraken once, after that he never showed up again...I liked fighting him...also we should customize our familiars

There was never Kraken in the game. Do you mean Charybdis?
She always appears randomly.

Isn't Charybdis a kraken??? 😮

Same but different. :P

the kraken shows up randomly and when you beat her i think it takes quite a while for her to come back

Eh, I ran into Charbydis... I think each of the last three surface runs, so it doesn't seem like she's that rare.

AFAIK it's just random, independent of anything you do. Might be interesting if there were a Well of Charon item that could be bought to increase the odds of a miniboss encounter showing up. *shrug*

Charybdis is definitely in a very weird, "early access" feeling spot right now. There are a LOT of problems with the fight, and the fact that it gets a boss health bar and three immunity phases makes it feel like it was designed to be the boss of the rift at first, but got thrown in as the miniboss instead due to not feeling satisfying enough or something.

-The fact that this fight is either 100% unavoidable or completely absent feels really, really bad for both speedrunning and high fear. This fight is an absolute minimum of around a full minute off your timer. Most other minibosses are offered twice and frequently allow you to skip them. Other minibosses also can be killed in a couple seconds with a strong build and do not have immunity phases (at best a teleport that lasts under a second).

-The difficulty of the fight varies astronomically depending on how far apart from each other the tentacles choose to spawn. With maxed enemy speed and a melee build, it is absolute hell trying to do anything when three tentacles are all right near each other and spam the spin/shockwave move. Other times you just get to dance around a lone tentacle and have an easy fight.

-The fight wastes tons and tons of time making you dodge the homing orbs while literally nothing else goes on.

-The main body of the boss might as well not actually exist, since it is barely on camera outside of the pans at the start and end, and you just stare at some tentacles spawning out of the ground. It doesn't feel like you're fighting a sea monster so much as a few turrets.

I personally would be fine with the fight just being completely scrapped in favor of a normal miniboss; if it is going to be promoted to area boss, there should be a substantial rework of the fight, because it's really weak both thematically and mechanically right now.

To add to this minorly, they definitely feel like the boss of the region, but also for the high damage output and the...carpet bombing? or general high volume of attacks over wide AoEs, and maybe I'm unskilled but I have a hard time even focusing one tentacle without being struck consistently. Once I got through this fight with only two hits, usually it's scathing.

I believe damage numbers will probably be adjusted as the game is further developed though, between Charybdis and Eris being effectively at the end of this run.

Sometimes this fight is harder than fighting Eris, I don't dislike it, but maybe you should at least be able to avoid it?
