sometimes me dont get freezer-burn and me get very upset
I never use the torches, I should look into them perhaps.
Ohhh, so you ARE a high fear player, I figured as much. Your clears are super clean.
I don't use it much because it's not my style, but it's probably the most powerful setup.
Moros Torches
Hera atk and mgk regen
Zeus spec
Heph for def.
+1 god of your choice.
It seems spammy at first — after all, it's literally a guided missile system, pulling the airborne knives onto anything in your Cast — but that basic action isn't close to getting the most out of it. The real fun is using the "Cool Guys Don't Look at Explosions"-style of aiming.
When you get a feel for the paths via which the knives curve into the Cast, you can make the knives rip through other enemies who aren't even in the Cast area. There is a massive difference in dps when you are maximising damage in this way rather than relying on standard targeting. I love the way it feels when you're doing it well. I feel uniquely engaged by this weapon and the constant decisions involved.
Then you can squeeze out yet more damage by going for boons to shorten Special/Omega timings and extend Cast effects, and also learning how much time you've got before expiry. It's partly learning how much of a second Omega Special you can get in, but also how long you can move and still squeeze in a full Omega. You can hit an incredible number of targets by getting away from the Cast before you commit the Omega.
Most effective for me is Hera, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Demeter with Hermes supporting. There are two big possibilities here: maximising money via Poseidon and Hermes toward the Hera/Pos Duo Golden Rule, or using Aph/Dem's health farming to get their Duo Hearty Appetite. Both are great. I would argue Golden Rule is better; at +3% per 100 Gold, it gets bigger numbers in the end than Hearty's +10% per 100 HP, and also pursuing Golden Rule leads to more good things than chasing Hearty (you can choose to sacrifice money for more boons/tools, plus the boons involved have more knock-on effects).
Both Hera and Aph's Legendaries go heavy. Getting either or both means everyone dies. I include Poseidon strictly for Ocean's Bounty and Sea Star, but If you just can't help yourself with Poseidon's offerings — if the game is throwing Epic and Heroic offensive boons at you, and you just can't resist — that's fine too because Poseidon's Legendary gives you double damage against Guardians.
Bing-bong build: Take Hephaestus' attack, special, or both. (Special is the better option.) Rarity matters more than usual. Pom it a bunch: unlike other boons which have diminishing returns on poms, Hephaestus has increasing returns on poms, e.g. going from a 5 second cooldown to 4 is significantly stronger than going from a 6 second cooldown to 5. Aim for Chain Reaction (Hestia duo) and Rude Awakening (Apollo duo), and try to pick up Grand Caldera and Furnace Blast as well. (Just remember to allow Furnace Blast 4 seconds to proc before another bing-bong if you get it, or don't take it if you're going down to like a 2 second attack cooldown.)
Room nuke build: Night card, Engagement Ring, Local Climate, and the highest rarity Super Nova you can get. Tag as much as you can with the cast and try to catch 3+ enemies when it detonates. If done correctly, everything just immediately explodes. Downside is that it's room-dependent and doesn't work well in very large rooms with scattered enemies, which is common in Oceanus, and you need some actual single-target DPS for bosses, which is hard to get with all the other stuff.
Fully upgraded Lunar Ray is pretty much a build in itself. You do not necessarily have to take sublime nodes if you would rather get the maximum DPS out of it.
King's Ransom/Queen's Ransom: With King's Ransom, take 1-2 core Zeus boons and Double Strike (Divine Vengeance can be funny as well but is not necessary), then as many Hera boons as possible. Get King's Ransom right before Echo and hope for Pom Pom Pom; failing that, try to get it off the Tartarus miniboss. With Queen's Ransom, get Born Gain, Blood Lines, and a good pool of max magic on Mel Torches, then take a bunch of Zeus Boons, get Queen's Ransom, and try to Pom Pom Pom Blood Lines. With either build, be careful to get boons that actually enable King/Queen's ransom (they're a little bit pickier than you might expect); locking out the necessary slots from the secondary god can make the duos impossible to get.
Also, for an actually good build: Pick Strength card, pick an aspect like Moros or Medea with crazy base damage, get Hera attack to sort out as much of your damage as possible in one boon, get Trusty Shield ASAP and pom it (rarity is good), get high rarity Flood Control. Pick up Heavy Metal and Uncanny Fortitude as well if you see high rarity versions offered at some point, and Mint Condition is great too. You're basically unkillable outside of Chronos' instant kill now, so have fun.
- King's/ Queen's Ransom if successful
- You can never go wrong with Mirrored Thrasher + Warmth Gain
- I prefer Momus + Heph's clanks = unlimited clanks
