Hades II

Hades II

Just show us the health bar already
You know what I'm talking about. It's counter-intuitive to deprive the player of information, especially in such a big, important encounter. You're sacrificing player agency in the name of lore, and that is never a good trade.

By the way, I was successful my first two attempts. But losing and not knowing how close I was (very, I'm sure)... it's just obnoxious.

They will probably add incantation for that later.

Disagree. While this can be a bad thing, it isn't always. I think it's fine here.

Also this.

This game has enough hoops to jump through already.
I'm sure there'll be an incantation for it eventually, if it's not already in and hidden somewhere.

But personally, I don't think it's that big a deal. I rarely look at boss health because it's not actually helpful information to me. I gauge how well I'm doing by how quickly the boss changes phase. The final fight's lack of a health bar was only weird once, due to the novelty of it. But needing to pay attention to everything he's doing honestly makes me a little glad that there's one less bit of useless info on screen.

Doesn't matter to me how close to the end of the fight I am, I either get there or I don't, no in between, same as any other boss. There's no player agency, really. But that's just me. I'm sure whenever that incantation shows up, either in this patch or in the future if it's not in yet, I'll grab it, because why not, and then it'll just continue to not matter or affect how I have to fight him.
You win or you lose. This ain't horseshoes.

Incantation is heavily expected regardless. Lip up.

Typhon is getting gradually beaten up quite visibly (as Master Skelemeus points out), and that I like quite a bit. Enough clue about the health situation and much more immersive than grandpa Chronos being uninjured the whole time.

Since incantation is quite probable, those who want will have best of both worlds.

Cellux is right, there's visible damage to Typhon's head & body, and dialogue/audio queues to be aware of, these help indicate he's increasingly damaged & good tells for transitioning phases.

As shared by others, it seems likely they'll add an incantation in later so we can see Typhon's health bar.

Related dialogue spoiler:I had some dialogue with Hecate, she asked me to hold onto his eye stalk drop thingie so we could throw it in the cauldron and start witchin' around. Basically they have Typhon incantations in development.

bro's got the biggest skill issue in a game that requires minimal skill

I think that one's for banishing him for good, though?

Definitely, my thought was maybe they're connected? So we'd continue Hecate's eye stalk questline, and she asks us to meet some other story/game conditions to progress.

It would be neat if Hecate involved the other witches. Let's say Mel has to collect samples or specific bounties/items for Hecate & Medea to complete the incantation & questline.

Then we'd unlock the incantation, Typhon's health bar is viewable, and the conditions would be met to make Typhon banishable for good (story-wise).

Or they may take a similar route - 1) Hecate's incantation makes Typhon killable, 2) Mel beats the boss, 3) Her reward is Typhon's health bar becomes unlockable once he's banished. That could also happen.
The only time I look at a bosses HP is to gauge how good my build is by the dps.

The removal of the HP bar for Typhon is irrelevant imo. Just efficiently deal damage and avoid taking hits, the absence of thay information doesn't change our behaviour at all

You get phase indicators anyway to judge HP, although I don't know if people have figured out the exact HP % for each phase.

Eggs 1 appears to be 85% HP (or more) since Knuckle Bones always triggers it immediately.

Zeus is probably somewhere between 50-60%

Eggs 2 is something like 35%. You will usually hit it before Zeus stun ends unless you have vow of grit or a very low-damage build.

That is probably not it. Guessing that one will be story related much like Dora's or Chronos' we cannot unlock yet.

That's neat, I gotta clear Typhon more and catch up, I'm on the previous step of that quest.

Yeah, it would be cool if that incantation was tied to revealing Typhon's HP bar, a nice reward for the player as you're unlocking a true ending.
