No zagreus?

Wait i heard there will be a Hades 2. So i thought neat. I want more of Zagreus his story. And..... nope. It is some other girl. Dont know why? I mean introduce it as a secondary main character sure. But not zagreus. He was the one what was the last game about.

Im very dissappointed by this. And i dont know now if i will buy it.

IMO having Zagreus as the protagonist again would be bad. His character and story, plus his relationships with the chthonic and olympic gods, were pretty thoroughly explored in Hades, so there wouldn't be much for Hades 2: Zagreus Boogaloo to really be about. The best chance for such a game succeeding would be a "fish out of water" story, whisking him to some new location with new characters, but that would be less interesting than the first game, where he had to both forge new relationships and strengthen/rekindle old ones. Telling a brand new story through the lens of a brand-new character would be much better, I think.

Look at it this way: At the start of Hades, Zagreus was just "some guy" to you, but you had an entire game to learn about him and come to appreciate him. Melinoe might be "some girl" to you now, but that's only because you know nothing about her yet. I loved Hades, and I have faith that Supergiant Games will make something that will be even better than that game. I think you need to have a bit more faith yourself.

In my opinion: Zagreus' story is finished. Having him be the lead again would be sad, as the first game is polished and fleshed out.
I like that they're bringing in a new protagonist with a new story to follow and new relationships to unfold. It will be a great first experience, just like it was with the first game. I'm pretty pumped :))

They could come up with something, possibly, but choosing a different approach allows for a more refreshing experience. Quite a lot of franchises switch the protagonists either every new installment or when they feel like the character development of the current protagonist is complete, or almost complete. Do you complain about them too?

im not saying only zagreus. But to basically have 2 characters one massive campaign. With different abilities ect. One zagreus we all know and love. and the second this new lady. And continueing the story from when it was finished the last game. the final ending i mean. That is what i would like to see. Zagreus reconnecting with his sister. and going on an adventure together. Fixing stuff. maybe even make it so. they can leave the underworld.

For all we know, Zagreus might appear as a playable character. But for one particular area, or something along those lines.

If not, I expect him to be a mentor of sorts (like Achilles) or function similar to Thanatos where he comes to help you every now and then.

One could make the case that the name of the game is Hades, not Zagreus, the story is about Getting his family together.

In Hades 2 he is in chains and the story is about getting him free.

I don't know what they would do with Zagreus again tbh that would match the first game. We practically got all the juice out of all the god interactions and father-son interactions. I don't mind something new

As someone who 100%'d Hades, Zagreus's story is done. He achieved everything he set out to achieve and more. There is literally 0 reason to have him be the main character because what would he do? Escape the underworld again? He's done that multiple times. Escape Olympus? Why?

I can think of numerous reasons to have zagreus in it. He could be trying to free his sister or something, He could be trying to reunite with his sister, He could be trying to find a way to survive on the surface. He could be trying to find love(or deeper explore that love). There are numerous olympian gods and greek mythologies he could explore ect... And he could do it together with his sister.
