Where is Eris?

I watched a couple of playthroughs where they get through the first boss rather quickly and then run into Eris. Meanwhile, my pace has been a bit slower than that (first 6 runs or so and I didn't make it past the first boss), and after 20 Nights, I've yet to run into Eris.

Is this expected/normal at this point? Have others had similar experiences? And in either case, how does one find her?

As far as I can tell - Eris only shows up in the lower layers if the player is progressing abnormally fast without dying. She is there to chain up the experienced players and make it harder for them to blow through everything within 3 runs. Not impossible I'd wager but definitely much harder.

If you spend a lot nights trying to to progress then you're just not going to bump into her.

You will run into Eris after you defeat the each boss, at the start of each new biome (for the first few runs that you reach them).

She is designed to slow down your progress if you are crushing the game

Thanks for your quick responses! I had a feeling that would be the case. I wonder then if she'll come into play as a difficulty system (like the original game's Pact of Punishment, but more dynamic).

Edit: and yeah, kind of a shame that's the only time she appears rn.

I can see why though, otherwise parts of the story development don't make sense if the player isn't dying initially.

Second actually. And kinda overtuned atm, kinda like Chronos, Cerberus, and Polyphemus.

But now I know: Eris = new traitor b*tch trash god and Nemesis = our frenemy (I thought I'd end up hating her outright, but no!).

i think its more complicated than that bc as she sais she dont stand on chronos side either (im missing ust 1 more heart for her last friend dialogue) so she basically does what she likes and i think shes just testing you like hecate bc hecate is the very first big boss in game

...I haven't exactly gotten that far into the game yet, though I know what her motive is.

Really? I defeated the first boss on my second try and then she gave me her "blessing". So that's how it is. Kind of funny. The game was like "hold up buddy not too fast."

I haven't seen her at all during a run. I've just been picking up her garbage at camp every so often.
