Unlike Hades, who relies more on skill and reflexes, Chronos almost entirely relies on gimmics and screen clutter. Once you pick up the pattern and stop makin panic dodges - Chronos becomes a cakewalk, when only adds and that horrendous boomerang attack pose any threat.
The only real trouble are the hourglass adds who can either spam the screen with projectiles or stasist freeze you in a really bad time.
ALso there is a really good guide.
I’m guessing Lucky Tooth is a Keepsake?
Ahhh. I forgot about him, that was in Hades 1 also, right?
Anyways. I’ve tried Ody’s Keepsake as well as the one that lets you do 20% more damage to who killed you last. I wish it stacked because I would be at +120 right now lmao. I’ll give lucky tooth a try and also try to stack some health up when I can.
Gotcha, thanks.
Yes, it functions the same, but restores 1 more HP (51 vs 50 in the first game), that's why it's called Luckier tooth.
Hades fight wasn't that long, though Chronos definitely has more mechanics and attacks to watch out.
Maybe that's just EA thing, and he will be easier in 1.0 release, but I think that wanted to make this boss really stand out among the rest, both in terms of difficulty and mechanics.
The devs have already stated that both Chronos and Eris are overtuned on purpose to be a bit of a superboss whilst they dev more content in. They're a bit of a placeholder to curb progression and will be tweaked once they start moving more towards a 1.0 release
Eris is fun to fight, Chronos is just annoying. It’s so busted. I’m about to just turn on God Mode to rekt him because it’s getting personal now lmao.
Eris is super easy in comparison to Chronos. Almost killed her on my first try, easily killed on the second with no deaths. Actually, I killed all bosses except Chronos within 3 tries (Hekate on the 1st).
On the other hand, I still can't beat Chronos after 20 hrs in the game and reaching him 6-8 times. My best was bringing him down to about 40% HP during the second phase.
The fight is just too long and too unforgiving: his attacks are hard to avoid and deal tons of damage, plus there's just too much happening on the screen during the 2nd phase, and after reaching it several times, I still don't know how to avoid some of the aoe attacks.
However, I think some of the attacks like his one shot are an example of good design: it will surely kill you when you first encounter it and panic, but it actually provides a lot of time to hide when you know what to do.
Honestly - Chronos feels a fair bit less engaging then Hades was in a mechanical sence. Its less of a duel and more of a puzzle. Aestetically this fight loses big time. Hearing Hades grunting "I can still... FIGHT!" while hearing Masahiro Aokis gutair in fire was dope as hell.
I wonder if he's the "real" final boss, maybe more weight will be given to continuing the climb to olympus? That's where I imagine an epic one-on-one happening.
Then again I haven't beat Chronos yet, and I've heard that the pact of punishment opens up then like after beating Hades the first time in the previous game
