I've gotten up to Neon Tomb so far without it feeling like I've fought tooth and nail up ♥♥♥♥'s creek while also not feeling like I coulda just called this op in and let the boys in blue handle it instead.
[You still are able to unlock cosmetics]
The fact it is already modded shows the devs don't really give a ♥♥♥♥.
I mean hell, if you're going to make a mod like that don't beat around the bush and call it easy mode mod.
Exactly. The only justifiable compliant about AI I've seen is the wall hacking. People are asking for enemies to just give up and surrender for sake of realism. "Pedophiles, security guards, etc...wouldn't actually shoot at police, they'd give up". Go play another game then. The point of these tactical shooters is indeed to have greater difficulty than the average fps.
The grenade part is actually really bad advice. The developers have specifically stated that spamming your deployables is the reason why they will become more trigger happy as you stress them out on a global level, without actually engaging them directly to lower their morale. Using breaching methods such as shotguns and C2 actually do help a lot though. And of course, always using cover when you can is a good idea.
I just really like tattoos lol
That's the idea, but people seeing the AI for what it is aren't exactly agreeing they're balanced and responding in a way where they actually value their own lives. Even with tactics and strategy.
Because to me, having every scenario feel like each suspect is a diamond lobby in R6-Sweat and can cheese past any of your utility isn't the type of game I exactly paid for.
What this mod does is make it feel like I don't have to use my gun as my go-to answer for almost literally every suspect that isn't high priority.
It is smart, hide and seek, try to flank you, skilled, ...
Utilities feel useless, no matter what you do, it ends the same way:
Open a door? Get shot
Kick a door? Get shot
C2 a door? If the suspect isn't directly in front? Get shot
Flashbang? Get shot anyway.
Breach shotgun? Get shot.
The devs saying using utility like flashes and such makes suspects more trigger happy makes absolute no sense and feels more like copium.
There's no stealth element, enemies don't give you time to even TRY a nonlethal method safely that DOESNT involve flashing every room.
Just because your AI can kill players trying to be tactical doesn't mean it's good AI, ANYONE can make an AI kill players if you give them inhuman aim and response time. All the while trying to shove the idea that players should try to strive for nonlethal on ridiculous missions (See Ides of March)
There is difficulty where you can improve
Then there's RoN where you are actively punished for trying to do anything other than banging every room and gunning down every suspect simply because the AI doesn't respect strategy, only TTK.
I started out trying non lethals and never got results all the way to mission 8. (On 15 now).
Gave up and went full shields, 7.62, heavy armor and b masks and just open n clear now.
Non lethals are pointless, aisde from c2/banger and even then its like 30% chance lol…..some say gas but na. Even if i throw it myself its no go, and you shouldnt have to throw it yourself anyway, the swat AI should be doing it correctly in the first place.
As for the mod, I tried it just to remove AI esp cheating and lethals mattering but the mod does more than fix that so it also made the game too easy for me. I removed it for now but hope to get it back in when he updates variants
