So Im an old Warhammer 40k fan and played the hell out of Dawn of War series back in the old days. Recently, Warhammer Vermintide 2 got me into Warhammer Fantasy universe as well. Now I want to try Total War Warhammer game. I see that reviews are mixed though, and I don't tend to buy mixed reviews videogames for full price. I want to give TWW3 a try during a sale, and want to know, is this game ever on sale? Or is it one of those "we will never put it on sale until it dies and we need to regrow our playerbase" videogames? If former, is there any information on when do devs possibly put it on sale? For anyone questioning my post, I repeat, I don't buy games with bad reviews unless they're on good sale. Thank you

It's been on sale multiple times and is likely on sale for 3rd party just make sure you find a legit 3rd party

Total War games go on sale regularly, usually they'll be part of the Steam seasonal sales. WH also sometimes get their own sales due to the GW licence, e.g. the Skulls for the Skull Throne event which is around May.

We might also get a sale with the new patch coming in a few days, due to it's being the 'game is dead and we need to regrow our playerbase' patch. If not, probably Spring Sale in March.

Note that due to how the game works (previous games + DLC is forward compatible), it seems like we mostly get big discounts on the old stuff, and smaller discounts on WH3 stuff. If you're just looking to give the game a try, you might be better picking up WH2, or 1+2 to start with.

Put on your wishlist and turn on mail notifications for Steam, Humble, or wherever else you buy steam keys so that you don't have to actively look for a sale. Humble Subbers have 20% off less whatever they donate to charity right now, dunno about other sellers.

Lots of really good 40K games out there these days, from Chaos Gate strategy to Darktide FPS, it's a good time to worship the Corpse Emperor (or Nurgle, if you're DG).
