This thread was someone asking about good one man army lords, not duelists. Kugath melts when trying to solo most AI armies, because some unit will have fire damage/ap/high MA.
It's not that he is a particularly strong lord in combat though, in fact he's pretty ♥♥♥♥ at killing stuff.
It's that he is extremely tanky, has mortis engine x2 (skill + plague flail) and access to some very potent spells that can both heal and lay complete waste to anything he encounters.
"This isn't about the best dueler... so anyway, here's why Kugath is a great dueler "
I don't remember all the details or who ran it, but I don't think it was for multiplayer.
But it's actually a bit boring. Then you'd miss out on the fun with Minos and Gorebulls.
one man army doesn't mean tanky, it means it can take on an army on its own, and all the lords mentioned have awful offense, they can't take on armies, also people are counting extra traits you can get during the campaign but that's a bad metric to use, every lord can get extra traits, only unique items and skills should be counted.
So In order for a lord to be a one man army he needs all or some of the following:
-great offense potential, be it through melee or magic that can take both on single entities and high model count units
-self sustain, that doesn't just mean regeneration, but winds of magic power reserve increase (very few lords have access to items or skills that actually increase the power reserve while in battle) or fatigue (vigour is extremely important, a mediocre lord with perfect vigour will outduel a melee powerhouse that is exhausted)
-defense, mainly through stats and ward saves, few lords can get ward saves just from their unique skills and items
Having finished the game with most factions on legendary, I would name these lords in no particular order:
-Archaon (crazy stats, duel monster and magic that can clear chaff, no perfect vigour though)
-Vilitch (Good duelist, metric ton of magic to clear chaff, regenerating shield by casting spells)
-Malus (Despite no magic his very unique skills allows him to dispatch entire armies if properply used)
-Yuan Bo (probably the strongest on the list, extremely powerful caster and duelist, is actually much stronger in human form)
-Mazdamundi (one of the weakest on the list, actually struggles against single entity monsters, but otherwise really strong)
-Mannfred (very powerful caster with great sustain, also struggles against big fellas)
-Skarbrand (he can take a while to get rid of chaff but has otherwise no other weaknesses)
Honorable mentions:
-Ku'gath (struggles against single entities)
-Luthor (he has a bit of everything, but his stats are lacking)
-Teclis (lacks single target)
-Tyrion (lacks chaff clearing)
-Imrik (lacks self sustain)
-Malekith (fell behind and got power crept by other lords)
-Drazhoath (lacks self sustain and could use better stats)
-Be'lakor (would be a monster if not for his lack of self sustain and cooldown based defenses)
