Why is performance so bad?

I finally decided to buy the game while it was on sale and was extremely disappointed by the performance. I pretty much have to play with medium visuals and lowered effects and it ruins the experience of the game for me. But even after lowering these settings I still struggle to maintain a frame rate above 40 FPS. I had zero issues with Warhammer 2 and I use High to Ultra settings while keeping a steady 60 fps. Im running an RTX 2060, i7 8700 16gb RAM on a 1440p Monitor.

Same. 3080ti and my performance took a hit after that patch.

OP has first world issues. The game runs. 40 FPS would have been a sweet spot in the 90s.

OP is just young.

WH3 has better graphics than 2 (as is the case with 2 compared to 1), so it doesn't come as a surprise, that it requires a better rig to run fluently. Make sure to update your drivers.

I was using similar settings with fxaa and sharpening since it looked best for the reduced resolution and was getting 60 fps on battles and campaign but my GPU started running hot and working harder than it should so i just decided to not play the game if its gonna take all kinds of workarounds to get it running. The game is way too poorly optimized.

I cant say for certain but I think they are utilising the cuda cores of graphics cards far more in Warhammer 3. It's good thing but the extra utilisation will cause far more heat.

They've done all they can with the cpu utilisation as its a still a dx11 game on 10year old engine

Frames jump form 25-40+. I didn't invest money into my computer to have it perform worse than a console would.

I removed all AA and Post processing, disabled V sync and used my monitors G Sync for tearing and was able to turn up my settings to Medium-High with textures on ultra, now im getting up to 80 FPS in battles and around the 50s in Campaign. All on 1440p resolution. GPU acting more normal now at 83 degrees C.

I have just been playing demon prince in chaos campaign. At 50 turns, and more..., I have a lot of sttutering and lags in the campaign map :/ I thought this had been resolved but I see the problem is still here. I play in 1080p with a RTX3070, i7-9700 3.6Ghz and M2 samsung.

me too. It is worse when the turns go by. At 50 turns I have lot of sttutering and lags moving the campaign map. This makes a bad the experience with the play.

Even with a 3080 I only get 70fps on the world map at 1440p.

Same. 3080ti and my performance took a hit after that patch.

im only on a 2080 but after that patch my PC fans whir up high in 2k when on the skill up screen now, not really a problem the game just looks nicer in 2k. I run the seahawk version and my 2080 in 2k is not choppy.

Well first of all, make sure you are at 1080p, you cannot play this game at 1440p, on that GPU.

Other than that, your performance sounds about right, for that setup. it's not a very strong GPU.

Its about typical GPU from modern gaming pc. It shouldnt have problems with slightly upgrtaded 7 years old game.

Not gonna claim that wh3 isn't badly optimized or anything like that.

But the i7 8700 was released back in 2018. So i'd argue against it being part of a "modern" gaming pc.
