The Load Times are killing me
its be answered adaquetly, my computer just hasnt kept up with the jones's, which i suspected

Title. Whenever I load up a campaign new or old, or reload a prior save, i get a 10-15+ minute loading screen. its similar with battles except its around 5-10 minutes so its not so severe. Naturally, this disincentives my playing of this game. the issue was present in game 2 as well but not nearly as bad, i have the game installed on a hard drive, not an ssd, and i have a 1060 max-q and 43 mods installed and enabled.

Is anyone else having this problem and what do you all recommend to maybe ease this problem as i like the game a lot despite the objective problems it has and i want to play more easily and often.

You play with Mods. like Graphical or Overhauls anything really can maked the Game load longer. Same here. Just watch a video or stream next to it and it will be fine

You need an SSD if you want faster load times. I'm sorry but thats it.

Yea...

"i have the game installed on a hard drive"

Don't do this. You wouldn't expect a game to work well on a Gforce 600 series, so why would you use storage from before that time?

TLDR; Install the game on an SSD.

Use an SSD.

Hard drive for gaming is out of fashion for like a decade. Even more so if it´s AAA games. Also who knows what the 43 mods are - and a 1060 with max-q is probably not the best choice either.

Sounds more like a sarcastic thread tbh. But not as much as the other guy in the technical support forums, who posted screenshots of his pink and green battlefield, while asking why this game does only run on 2 fps on his father´s laptop, which is way below the minimum requirements - and meant it for real...

Yeah I know upgrading is expensive and a bother to install but an SSD does make a huge difference.

That age doesn´t matter. My PC is from 2016, excluding the graphics card, and the second ssd i bought. CPU outdated, GPU relatively, but loading times are okay - and actually any games run okay. But i couldn´t run this game on ultra on every map with satisfying fps. Cathay maps mostly - but You don´t need to run the game on ultra, and You don´t need high fps - except You play multiplayer.

Try medium settings, which should reduce the loading times drastically. Then get an SSD, which You can also use in Your other PC later. Perhaps get rid of the 43 mods if they reduce performance.

Get a new PC or Laptop. I used to have the same problem for Total War Warhammer II but when I got a new one, it played so much better.

Maybe don't buy the overpriced DLC and put that money towards getting a NVME SSD?

Keep your dlc crap out of this it has nothing to do with this post. One thing you can do that will help you out a bit is turn shadows off, should make battles and some parts of the map load in faster. But as others have said an ssd is pretty important. It is also important to note that some mods either due to the code they effect or due to just being big over all can add a minute or 2 to hard drive load times. As a former hard drive user I had to cut some of the bigger mods to load the game faster.

When you eventually upgrade, I'd definitely shoot for an nvme SSD rather than a sata based SSD. Nvme's are wayyy faster than sata SSD's, and really improve load times a lot on games like this.

From my time using Warhammer 2 on a HD. I had load times down to ~30 seconds.

Never use unlimited video memory. It will make load times drastically longer.

Lower all of your graphics as low as they'll go, especially the texture settings.

Then you can slowly work your graphics back up until it hits just below the point where load times sky rocket by several minutes.

Get an SSD as at this point a mechanical drive is only going to hamper load times and performance.

Recently picked up an M2 drive and it cost less than I paid for DLC in this game. If you have an older setup it will probably not be compatible but if you enjoy gaming and remotely value your time a SSD can be a great investment.
