Is this game without DLC worth a try?

I received this game for free when I purchased a asus motherboard. Of course, it didn't come with any DLC. Is it worth trying it out without any DLC? Reviews seem to be abysmal, but beside the DLC pricing, is the game that bad? Are there that many game breaking bugs?

I know I already own it, but downloading it... and then learning to play it (never played a TW game before), it's time consuming.

you got a game for free and you can't even be arsed to just try it out for yourself? Game doesn't need DLC to be enjoyed, but without it your playable races are gonna be limited to only the vanilla WH3 factions for Immortal Empires. I couldn't tell you anything about Realms of Chaos as i haven't even touched that campaign but i got a good 30 hours out of WH3 before buying the other DLC

Yeah, It's good. Think of the DLCs as add-ons that give you more to play with once you've tried out most of the included things. Some DLCs radically change and improve the factions and others are just nice to have.

Absolutely.
The base game is great on its own.

It's important to note that none of the DLCs are required to have a good time like a lot of other games.

They are purely for additional enjoyment so you can feel free to pick and choose whatever one(s) you find interesting.

Phew, I think I'll forget about this game. GPU usage reaches almost 100%, enabling vertical sync helps a little, but not much. Temperature goes above 80 C. Even the case gets super warm.

RTX 4070 Ti, i7 12700k, 32GB DDR5 RAM, NVME.

it's better without the all DLC, mostly because you will have all that money you wasted on DLC for factions you will never play, and can use it to buy BG3, Starfield and RE4, like I wish I did.

Also, all those factions and DLC updates etc, you get them all anyway, free, but you just can't play AS those DLC races, but they are still in the game.

For me, most of the races I play, are in the 3 base games. Get those, and you won't need any more content for awhile.

Edit: Oh, you only have the 3rd game, and if you don;t plan to get the first 2, idk if I would bother. You only play IE campaign anyway, and idk what races you would have access to with just the 3rd game. Someone will know.

That's too bad, it's a great game. But, it can't really be played above 1080p, unless 4090+

I would buy Champions of Chaos from a key reselling website for 10-15$ if you could, then it makes every evil/chaos faction in game 3 have a lot of units that arguably are being resold as cut-content-based-dlc but also plug big holes in the roster. (Basically all marked chaos warrior variants). If you enjoy RTS games or other total war games you will get 100 hours or more before you get bored for that price.

Well I was getting 115 fps at 1440p on ultra, but my rigs was getting too hot. RTX 4070 Ti should be enough...

Since february the base game has a lot of content and it is more than enough for a big experience even without DLC.

If you're not going to, or able to, buy Warhammer 1 and 2 for all the Free DLC, I would suggest starting with game 2 still.

O remember WH1 when there was hardly anything so yeah, WH3 is worth buying without DLC.
