How do Nurgle Plagues work?
So, ive tried playing nurgle twice, once as kugath other as festus and while i think they are both well and good one thing has consistently made me quit, and thats that i cant figure out how to make the plagues spread. with all other plagues they will go out like wild fire, the beastmen plague in late game physically cant be removed, skaven plagues often take upwards of 20 turns to finally be snuffed out in unprepared factions, but Nurgle, it just...doesnt seem to ever spread, whether i attack a settlement and let it be, whether i attack lords and let them live, whether i plop my happy butt in every uninfected settlement i can find, nurgle plagues do not ever spread for me, what am I doing wrong?

Nurgle Corruption is the main thing that lets Nurgle plagues spread, by increasing the chance and duration.
But Nurgle plagues are what spread Nurgle Corruption where your armies aren't at yet.
And there's a limit to how many times they spread (event count, I think, can spread multiple per event?.

So that leaves the one-shot cultist as the most reliable way of getting plagues somewhere.
Which is fine, because the cultists can scout ahead.

Oh, and they can't spread across bridges, which makes no real sense.

its more or less a gimmick now; since daniel the demon had a better version of attrition plagues and ai s immunity to it lead to a lot of ppl complaining so they pulled its teeth; just like they removed walled settlements.

us it as a buff or what you think is fun for you

ok, but im asking how do i make it spread, not how its useful, i understand that they nerfed it alot, but what i dont understand is how it functions on a basic level, as it literally will not spread from the initial target no matter what i do.

Considering plagues are changing dramatically in just a few more weeks, there's not much point to learning the existing system now. But basically there's a % chance of spread per turn, whereby it can spread between adjacent settlements, or between armies and settlements or armies and other armies that come into contact. The chance can be increased by the composition of the plague and by factionwide buffs.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

One little trick where i don't know if it works after the next DLC update:

If one of your own armies is infected, you can infinitely keep this plague alive.
Simply swap 1 unit with another army, and they get a fresh charge of the plague at maximum duration.

Can be repeated as often as needed.
Pretty crucial when playing Skrolk because he can't generate new plagues on demand.

BTW there also is a commandment to increase the spread chance. Tooltip only mentions "armies" though.

Also, Nurgle replaces the "Protection" building with a version which does not REDUCE but INCREASE the chance of plague spreading from the local settlement.

So you can build some strategical distribution hubs with those.
