Warhammer 3 or Three Kingdom ?

which one would you reccomend to buy and why? i didn't play any total war befor

Everyone has their own tastes and preferences, but I believe that TWW3 is objectively a better game, although 3K does have its strengths. That said, you're asking on the TWW3 board, so your answers are going to be skewed in that direction.

3K if you want an introductory course to Total War games; story-focused, quick and compact
TW WH3 if you can brave a far bigger world with more complex civs and factions, and naturally all the bugs and issues that come with it

Shout-out to Shogun 2 if youve never played a total war game that is arguably the best one besides TW3. Plus its a little more contained so its easier to learn and transition to a massive game like TW3

as a standalone, i'd get three kingdoms. but if money isnt a factor, i'd start building up the warhammer collection to play immortal empires. (the grand campaign that combines the maps and factions of all three total war warhammer games)

Also, i'd like to give a shoutout to Shogun 2, Napoleon, and Atilla which are my favorite total war games in that order.

Tbh, I feel TW WH3 is much more casual friendly than 3K (which is far from an "introduction").

Shogun 2 would be a more interesting game to get introduced to Total War, I agree. It's also a great game.

Both are great games in their own merits. T3K is more diplomacy, W3TW is more combat-centric.

TWW ruined most realistic TW for me. More variety, more replayability even if there are weaknesses on the campaign map compare to other tw games.

but there is no bad tw game, all are good on their own way with strengths and weaknesses.

just choose the TW scenario you like.

Three kingdoms would be a better choice if they kept developing it but as it is now both games are unfinished but warhammer has a lot more flavour.

Have you read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romance_of_the_Three_Kingdoms or have any knowledge of the lore, enough that playing the game will scratch that itch for you? On the other hand, have you played/read any fantasy/RPG books in any genre, including all the tropes and then adding a lot of other stuff?

if you specifically want to play the 3K era, with those people, on that map, with those rulesets. There are things they focus on you won't find in TWWH.

TWWH3 is an enormous toolbox with not just factions, but a ton of sentient species. They do have a Cathay faction so you can get your fix if you want it, though obviously it won't be flavored as deeply as 3K.

You could say one is a game, and the other is a game system, with all the good and bad that either entails.

3k has a deeper level of campaign intrigue, diplomacy, and I feel they do a better job at immersing you in the setting. Warhammer has more fun and crazy units to throw at each other.

If you enjoy more of the grand strategy elements I feel 3k does a better job. If you would rather rain down literal dragon fire on the enemy forces than go for the Warhammer series.

As a side note the 3k vanilla experience felt more complete without DLC where as the Warhammer series can feel like you are missing out if you don't own all the games and DLC.

3k could have been a good game, but it's unfinished, it doesn't even have the actual 3 kingdoms scenario.

I mean, if you hate fantasy then 3k, for sure, otherwise WH3

3k has way more interesting gameplay on the campaign level.
warhammer wins it on the actual field battles.
which is kinda funny howmutch say warhammer 3 is beter whie AR the game 99% of the time. but 3k does take longer to learn the ins and outs
