Mod to nerf skaven HARD?
anyone know of a good skaven nerf mod? they are just straight BS.

just out of curiosity, what units are you using to do the saving? clanrats damage is awful, as long as a basic melee unit is nearby they should rescue the arty just fine.

You can use magic on the menace from below. Debuff its leadership with a cheap spell and it routs. Do not make defensive squares. Skaven break easy, but they also keep rallying back. Push them towards the edge of battlemap

nah going to keep looking for a mod, you are welcome to play with them as they are.
Learn to deal with it, have units guarding your backline vs rat summons, keep encamp stance when near Skaven armies, dodge the nukes, get rid of the mortars before they can decimate your infantry (with heroes, large monsters, arty, flyers..) etc etc
Or just play Skaven, they're super fun :steammocking: !

Download the console commands mod i believe its called pj's mod. You can just abandon all of their settlements and delete them from your campaign.

so, if you had both mortars and HE spearmen... did one of those come from allied recruitment? Do you mean eagle claw bolt throwers?

HE spears are, admittedly, not ideal for this job but they should still have done well enough.
Did your spears end up sandwiching the clanrats between the arty team and themselves? That doesn't really help drive them off, it just pushes the clanrats into the artillery crew. You want to have the arty crew run through the spearmen so they can prevent the clanrats from pursuing.

Though Rangers or Ellyrian Reavers (or Silver Helms) would have done a better job killing, they don't really need to. They just need to keep the clanrats off the artillery team until the summon times out.




... also, don't do boxes. Those are how you get destroyed by area spells. You can have a loose melee line and a loose archer line behind it, but not tight boxes.

When facing skaven have some fast anti inf "guard" unit to deal with Menaces, "uncrew" the arty when the rats are summoned, send the guards, fight will last 20 seconds max, then recrew the arty

OP, you really need to forget about modding the game and learn to account for faction abilities. If you are feeling pressed by skaven, you aren't going to be able to deal with Tzeentch teleporting/magic, beastmen charges, woodelf skirmishers, chaos dwarf artillery, warriors of chaos insta-armies, or any of the other strong faction particularities. Either go to a historical total war, or learn to build and deploy armies with the enemy in mind.

Op. Your either new player or just donno how to play the game. Either one of these two.
With the exception of ikit, most scaven encounters can be solved by setting up a defensive line in a corner with arrows behind it, and letting them flee too the nearby border.... i don't know why you've have so much trouble with them outside of ambushes.

being "gay" is fine its a single player game. its not like its a multiplayer thing ...

like i use mods that affect game balance is that also "gay" as u put it?
