I'll just copy what I already posted on reddit:
On the DLCs:
Going off what had been previously announced, the next one will be focused on Slaanesh. Given Slaanesh's "affinity" for Elves, it'll probably come with updates to HE as well. Maybe Bretonnia as well, since they are in dire need of updates? Not sure, but Elves will certainly get more updates.
Another, more reliable source (Legend & his contacts) claims that WH3 has around SIX DLC left in store, not two.
Claiming that they are "dropping" Warhammer 3 is a bit dramatic, don't you think? Another nearly 2 full years of support is not "dropping" anything... this is not a live-service game (thank god).
Considering how well the latest DLC was received, CA will probably keep it up for a while in this direction. Two full years is far from "dropping support".
And can you blame them for trying to go bigger? 40K will have one or two orders of magnitude more players than Fantasy Total War ever will... of course they're going for it. It'll likely be the next big one they release.
As for this "WW1" rumor that keeps going around. It is again at odds with another source of information - that this is actually a Total War set in the 19th century, with a full world map and naval warfare. So, not WW1.
Bottom line, we just have to wait and see which of the leaks are correct. I tend to go with the ones that have been correct before.
As for Star Wars... I sincerely hope it's just a Saga game and they don't spent too many resources on it. I couldn't care less about it, but that's just me.
Also makes no sense for these to be the only two DLC left. At the very least CA will need to finish the quartet of Chaos Daemon race packs (so one with Slaneesh and another with Khorne), and add a Dogs of War/Southern Realms expansion (last army book not yet in the game + there are leaked files of two legendary DOW characters). In total, we can expect at least five more DLCs before CA ends post-launch support.
I also find it hard to believe that either Star Wars or WW1 (or even WH40K) will happen anytime soon for the reasons you mentioned. I don't know why there aren't more people in the community pausing for a second and thinking "wait, what if these 'leaks' are red herrings all along"? Other game developers have been known to "leak" BS info before an upcoming game to mislead/misdirect players, and the actual game ends up being completely something else altogether. Why would CA be any different?
That said, I don't agree that a Cathay/Ogre DLC won't happen. Ogres have been badly in need of a race update, there is already a leaked model of Maneater, and it would make more sense to pair up Cathay and Ogres (because they start next to each other) than Ogres and Slaneesh (Ogres don't really seem like a race that Slaneesh wants to target, but High Elves and Dark Elves definitely have a strong connection to Slaneesh).
40k, WW1 are more likely possibilities.
M3, S3 (or perhaps M3 + S3 combined?), R3, Empire 2 are slightly less probable.
Either way, would prefer Empire 2, Medieval 3 (with Shogun combined? lol), WW2, or just more focus on proper quality Warhammer 3 DLC/FLC + WH4/WH3 remastered. Or a new Age of Discovery TW, or maybe other original not licenced IP/setting (such as unpopular pre-WW1 era, wouldn't recommend they ever try it though). (Can't care about 40k that much.)
What's botched about 3K? As far as gameplay goes and mechanics and the campaign map, it's top tier.
Nothing per se, just (mostly) the major DLC (Nanman) and support dropped far too soon. If they had polished and reworked several of the paid DLC packs, plus patch the game regularly like they do now with WH3, it would be different.
It'll suck to see support end, but I'd be more than happy with two more years and 6 DLC's to finish it off, as long as it's around the same quality or better as TOD. I just hope at some point that Vampire Coast gets a bit of love.
