Lord Skrolk: tips for the campaign?
I just wanna say, I love the Skaven, they're probably one of my favorite factions in the game. I've played all of them at some point and had some very fun campaigns with them, except for Lord Skrolk.

I love the idea of him. A non-Nurgle faction who spreads plagues and gets bolstered by them? Awesome! But the problem is, I find it difficult to kill my starting enemy, the Southern Sentinels, before Tehenuain declares on me. My last run, I had both Tehenuain and Gor-Rok declare on me before I even occupied my 4th settlement. I didn't even have the building to reliably pump out Plague Monks yet.

I don't know, is there something I'm missing? Is there a bit of RNG involved or am I just going about this the wrong way? Been playing this game for a while and have loved it, so some advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just rush first settlement you get to tier 3, plaque claw catapults are a good solution aiganst lizard infantery. With some luck a single slave slinger unit can keep 1 ore 2 stacks of saurus busy by letting the saurus hunting them. It may help if Gor-Rok runs in with a stack of them, to delay some of his army and stretch them a bit.

Rush T2 > 4 squads with warpflamers > Burn-scorch lizardthings
Ally Skulltaker. Kiss his toes. Gift him settlements. Lick his horns. And then watch Lustria burn and colonize ruins before they turn into his settlements automatically.

Long live Skulltaker, best bro of rats and shizo vampires!

I like to put an undercity in Itza with a plague building and watch as his garrison and army withers.

actually: ROFLMAO!
just
You'd think with the addition of Nurgle those Skaven plagues would be really useful but they are not.
Skrolk is one of my favorites!

Its a rough start, but what gets me through it is rushing warpfire throwers and Stormvermin Halberds.

The Stormvermin are vital for taking out the enemy melee lords and one or two big dinos you'll see.

Oh and I didn't buy the Ikkit DLC for a while so maybe ratling gunners are even better but the halberds do just fine and are crazy versatile.

been a while since I did skrolk, but I remember plagueclaw catapults being the best option to deal with lizards.
create a 2nd army to follow around your main armies filled with 17 skavenslaves and 2 plagueclaws, upkeep should only be like 1k for that.

since theyve punted lokhir across the world I dont think you have any natural allies in the area. Maybe coast or rakarth?

I've been trying this on legendary. It is difficult. The southern sentinels are not the issue.,move east towards the gold mine port and it will force march back to chaputyl. I farm their army that will try and defend the gold mine port. and I just keep sacking until I am declared war on then you have to peace treaty and retreat and get T3 walls until you have decent tech to make a strong army. You can stop the southern sentinel lord spawning in the main after you killed him by sieging the main settlement building and retreating. This will not stop recruitment however and if left unchecked the southern sentinels have 3 stacks. It is easier to win the siege at the main than to defend a sally as you can just cheese and use up all your ammunition opposed to being overwhelmed.

Manual fire with the plague claws is strong, even when they are at your front lines, because they still shoot from above due to their height. Auto attack however will not be any good. Mix your slingers or infantry in with your artillery. The damage is huge up close and you aren't bothered about killing some of your own shaven.

There is no anti-large except mass rats. I have been trying to use gutter runners to kill fat enemies and also get two assasins and 2 chieftans asap.

Warpfire throwers will go along way but plagueclaw catapults are possibly better with manual fire. The enemies line will be so wide flanking is difficult.

The +25% ambush chance traits are huge.

If can survive enough to T3 walls, better stats on your trash, and XP on 2-3 lords, I think it will get easier. There is so much complexity in this campaign though.

Try to assassinate Lord Kroak asap

Early game Skrolk is mostly about the vermintide playstyle. Just keep spamming out armies of skavenslaves and replace with better units when you can afford it. If you have enough trash rats, not even Itza can defeat you.

ignore the southern sentinals' walled settlement, they will just defend while you focus your armies on Tehenauin. declare war on Tehny and try to guarantee an ambush battle so your plagueclaws can get as many shots off as possible. recruit as many lords as you can and recruit as many units as possible, Tehny's starting army is absurdly stronger than yours since your plagueclaws can't counter his monster units.

plaguemonks and censer bearwrs aren't actually good, they're just cheap in Skroll's army
