hochland long rifles
elite forest hunters with rifles who can snipe from afar

but can't shoot around trees and who get 95% of their shots blocked if they're in a forest

assuming you can even get them to shoot in the first place

same for welves, delves, any ranged or artillery unit, it makes no sense that it's disadvantageous for them to be at a height advantage or firing from tree cover because of the horrendous way this game determines line of sight for shooting

They arent elite forest hunters.

They dont have woodsman, nor do they have any other bonuses involving trees.

All they can do is hide in the forest, which 99% of infantry can do anyways.

You are using them incorrectly.
Nothing in the game says anything about them being "forest hunters" as far as i know.

While it is a "modified hunting rifle", the modified version isn't necessarily meant for hunting and even if it was meant for hunting, modifications for extreme range seems i'l suited for heavy woodlands (Wouldn't something like that be more meant to be used in clearings or on fields? Where you can see far?).

Also do note that Warhammer trees are larger then most normal trees (this isn't just a game thing, the older forests in Warhammer are often depicted with trees as tall as towers or even skyscrapers).

I thought the game phased infantry bullets for the first half second, so unless your shooting from deep inside the forest, you should be fine.

But given the view restrictions of seeing units hidden in forests, its a bad idea to try and use a ranged unit to fight incoming melee units in a forest.

As a sidenote, this game handles trees weirdly. Artillery can destroy stone walls but a tree? Indestructible.

Missile units in general become useless in massive forest maps.

Forests counter missiles.

makes u wonder how empire military evolved around gunpowder, considering whole empire is highly forested
I mean, who would win in a forest firefight: a bunch of hooman snipers with long ass rifles/point ears with long ass bows or say literal chameleons with blowpipes or goblin trappers? It's like vietnam in WH. If you fight in the woods, just use artillery with arcing fire and some lonely fire wizard to act as flying spotter and bomber.

well because it's lethal than in game, in game unit need to shot like 5 vollays to kill a unit while in lore, just one bullet will kill Chosen.
