Imagine this game be modded into DnD universe
Snow leopard will be turned Guenhwyvar

Drizzt and his companions are legendary lords (or Bruenir, Catti-Bri are agents for example)

We have giants in this game that could be turned into Earth Giants, Fire giants, etc. Imagine you would be able to recruit Harshnag and campaign goal would be to locate and kill Iymrith (or befriend her and rule over the world

The zhentarim agents could be something like skaven assassins.

And so on. The ideas are endless here :)

Does anyone think such an overhaul would be ever possible?

turning semi generic fantasy into MORE genereric fantasy? No i honestly dont see the draw. Im not so attached to one company that I need that much specifics....
Warhammer is literally DnD in massive battles
Possible or not, it's not allowed.

why should it not be allowed? it's mod and if it's free of charge to download, there are no violations

GW required CA to ban the mod tools and workshop from being used to create non-Warhammer IP mods.

You mean wizards of the coast…..

Who are infamously banning everything and anything they don’t like !?

Originally GW didn’t want modding at all in the WH games but CA fought for it and they were able to compromise that mods could be allowed as long as they didn’t mod in any content from other IPs

At the very bottom:

3. CONTENT RESTRICTIONS

(...)

You are responsible (...) that your Mods do not contain:

(...)

2. any resemblance to any recognisable third party brand, character or personality

So yeah this part apparently means that only Warhammer IP content is allowed.

In this situation even Warhammer IP is restricted - only Warhammer Fantasy Battles is allowed. No 40K, no AOS, no TOW and no Bloodbowl.

And TBH i think it isn't a bad concept.

Looking at for example Stellaris; if you search for a specific type of mod, you'll have to bring a shovel to dig through around 99.5% of the mods being some kind of anime portrait pack or star wars shipset or whatever unrelated content.

Yep also intended to write "WHFB IP", but this section doesn't specify it (probably a different section does but this is pretty clear about forbidding third party IP)
I would love a modern fantasy, dwarf, elves with our current time technology.
