They are indeed bad, they are also anti large (not anti infantry, blue horrors being infantry).

But a unit of cold one knights still completely trash a unit of blue horrors unless there are other factors involved.

Orc boar boyz beat miners in a straight up fight without additional factors being involved. They win even more when cycle charged.

The version with blasting charges might change things, but when i tested it they generally never got their blasting charge off before contact (the boar boys moving to quickly).

Keep in mind that stuff like campaign buffs, being tired, or even fighting uphill* can make all the difference to a units effectiveness in this game.

*A unit of spearmen can beat a unit of swordmen if the spearmen has the high ground:

I never thought it about it that way. I think you just solved another mystery. Though Brettonians are still smelly and muddy and smell like their horses :p

Cold ones are good against things that cause pain for your darkshards/shades, like flyers and cavalry. They have anti large and IIRC armor-piercing, useful against enemy monstrous infantry, SE flyers and cavalry units. Not fantastic at it, but the Delfs don't have another unit in their roster that can fill this exact same role. So, Cold ones should be seen as a sort of "defensive" cavalry, used to react to threats to your firing line.

The worst unit in the game have to be the screamers of Tzeentch. I can't imagine why anyone would recruit it over any fury unit (which are one of the weakest units in a Tzeentch roster, useful only for their flying ability).
