The better camera mod let's you zoom out farther. It's mostly for battles but has some limited functions on the campaign map.

Really the best thing to do is just browse around the workshop and see if there's something that fits what you're looking for. There's a bunch of UI mods that can change how things look.

You're new to Steam mods? Even many of the smaller mods are affected by updates, there is no avoiding that.

What you're asking for is vague too. You simply want a campaign camera that can go higher? Or you want to see improved campaign map lighting, more settlements on the map, etc. That is all stuff you can easily find with a simple search on the workshop.

You know your own preferences best, and whatever you want chances are that there's a mod for that, just gotta look.
