-Different mounts, like herald can ride a flying mount which help you to harass froes with damage spells and a palanquin which give you support utilities and tankiness while being more easily hitable by missiles.
- Chaos sorcerer is more armored but doesn't have physical resistance so Chaos socerer is more weak against AP when herald is countered by magic attack.
-Greater daemon is more tanky, have utility abilities and is better in durable fight while daemon prince is more mobile, do more damage and can charge/flank efficientyl + as herald on his flying mount he can harass with spells and dodge missiles above ennemy's armies
One difference which is very important to stress imho is, that one is demonic and will therefore desintegrate if you happen to get caught off guard. Coupled with the fact, that the AI will aggressively target your characters and that the Herald is not exactly the best combatant and is very slow, it can lead to quite some frustrating lord losses. It gets a lot better once you hit lvl 11 since you can fly around, but you are only truly "safe" after lvl 20. Mortals can be used a lot more freely and will very rarely die. Demons on the other hand...
The Herald is much better at buffing demons, while the Sorcerer as somewhat better at buffing mortal troops.
Another thing worth noting is, that the Herald has a dedicated yellow combat skill line, while the Sorcerer doesn't. While it won't pay off much because you usually will want to turn him into an Exalted, a full perked out Herald on a rot fly is by far the most mobile lord option you have available to you. This is a very useful niche, since Nurgle usually really lacks mobility. Having a speed 90 caster with very decent melee skills zooming around the battlefield, that can either support your army exactly where needed or snipe a VIP, is a very useful tool to have.
Just half of them may not work for embedded Heroes.
