I just use color + slur.
They'll most likely get the pronouciation right for whatever you're looking for.
Simply to demonstrate your contempt for foreign cultures.
Right, so the city in the game is called "Shang Yang", but even Zhao Ming pronounces it wrong.
Chinese uses the true "A" vocal just like all other languages in the world.
For example, read these names in their native language:
Angela Merkel, Emanuel Macron, Madrid, Barcelona, Ukraina, Wasabi, Yamaha, Uganda, Italia, Moskva, Argentina...
But he says "Shäng Yäng" with the english "A" which is half an "E", or the german "Ä".
And we can repeat this for just about every vocal. How the "U" becomes a "Yoo", the "I" becomes an "Eye", and all that. The english language is flipping this all around, against the common meaning of the letters corresponding to the vocals.
Which, mind you, is not wrong per se - within the english language.
However, unlike people from other cultures, the english native speakers don't even try to pronounce foreign words correctly.
There are Americans who lived in Germany for 40 years, yet speak worse German than the average Iranian after 6 months. And that is not hyperbole.
There's a difference between a culture and a language.
But at some point your local dialect (or raised in) are going to play a part and that will not be compatible with what you are trying to pronunce, and thats just how it is
