Pronunciation guide for Cathay?
Cuz I feel stupid reading in my head and butchering all the names. I believe that Q as in Qin is pronounced like Chin, yes? Others I have no idea. Example, how would you say Ye. Is it Yee or Yay?
Pronounced in American English is what I mean.

I believe it's Ka-Thay but I could be mistaken, doesn't really matter though.

Do people bother with such trivial things?
I just use color + slur.

You might as well check the Warhammer nerds talking about lore and stuff on YT.
They'll most likely get the pronouciation right for whatever you're looking for.

Hey thanks, only halfway decent answer.

I just know that the Ice Dragon will be called Bing Chilling.

It's all pronounced the way you would pronounce Chinese, for obvious reasons. "Chinese pronunciation guide" is definitely easier to find than a "Cathay pronunciation guide".

Just be a good American / Englishman, and pronounce everything wrong out of principle.

Simply to demonstrate your contempt for foreign cultures.

I live in England, no one thinks like this.

Right, so the city in the game is called "Shang Yang", but even Zhao Ming pronounces it wrong.

Chinese uses the true "A" vocal just like all other languages in the world.
For example, read these names in their native language:

Angela Merkel, Emanuel Macron, Madrid, Barcelona, Ukraina, Wasabi, Yamaha, Uganda, Italia, Moskva, Argentina...

But he says "Shäng Yäng" with the english "A" which is half an "E", or the german "Ä".

And we can repeat this for just about every vocal. How the "U" becomes a "Yoo", the "I" becomes an "Eye", and all that. The english language is flipping this all around, against the common meaning of the letters corresponding to the vocals.

Which, mind you, is not wrong per se - within the english language.

However, unlike people from other cultures, the english native speakers don't even try to pronounce foreign words correctly.

There are Americans who lived in Germany for 40 years, yet speak worse German than the average Iranian after 6 months. And that is not hyperbole.

There's a difference between a culture and a language.

Luckily for me I have already spent 1500 hours butchering Latin words in Attila, got some practice on butchering weird names

But at some point your local dialect (or raised in) are going to play a part and that will not be compatible with what you are trying to pronunce, and thats just how it is

That's not really your place to say now is it. A little humility please.
