High weapon strength is more noticeable in lord v. lord duels or when fighting a big single entity like a mammoth or a dragon, because in those situations the damage isn't wasted.
In general I tend to prioritize melee attack over weapon strength, though you can never have too much of either.
Melee attack = chance to hit
Weapon strength = damage dealt when hitting
For those who do not know what to pick melee attack is better choice.
Unless it's adding anti large/infantry.
This is under strength but gives MA also. (Against said target type)
Defense = How likely you are to avoid getting hit.
Weapon Strength = How much damage you do when you hit the enemy.
Armor = How much damage you block when you get hit.
