Editing the AI: Arrows and Eagles
I want to create a mod that undoes the cruel decision by Creative Assembly to remove the legitimate tactic of tricking the AI into using up all of its arrows by presenting them with a tempting but very mobile target.

Does anyone know which pack file I'd have to mess with in order to regress the AI to a Warhammer 2 State?

You don't need to anymore. Instead, AI begins shifting it's entire formation and not firing at the usual unit one would use for that tactic. It's silly. :steamhappy:

I don't think you understand, I want the AI to shoot at my eagle on a noble again.
I want to reinstate the arrow-wasting strategy.

I am also aware that Tyrion on his horse can literally step right up to the faces of Darkshards and they'll stand around masturbating instead of loosing a single arrow, which is also silly.

Just play on easy/normal difficulty....

No.
Why do so many people throw out that insulting cop-out solution?
What good does playing on normal even do?

It allows you to waste ammo again.

But I don't WANT to play on normal. I want to have the AI with their bonuses to melee and leadership AND be able to waste their ammo.

Then add those bonusses to normal difficulty AI. It'll be easier than removing the behaviour.

I don't care about what's easy. I'm willing to make the effort if it means being able to publish a way to reinstate the arrow-wasting tactic for all those who want it back.

Wait, so it stops working on Hard? Hmm. That must mean there is a variable that changes value whenever you switch between the difficulties. If I can find out which variable, changing it should be a cinch.

So you want a brain dead AI to be even more brain dead. lol. well okay, to each their own I guess.

Maybe don't rely on cheesing the AI and actually build good armies? Or just get a spellcaster, those guys easily wins battles single handedly.

It's not cheese, it's tactics.
Real soldiers make dumb mistakes or try to nab the glory of taking a general's head too you know.
I am sick of people calling any tactic that isn't "blindly smash your front lines into the enemy and take tons of damage from their arrows" as "cheese"

I was asking for help navigating the database editor, I didn't ask to be given grief for making my request.

If you don't have anything constructive to say, then kindly butt out.

No matter how good my army is, if I am outnumbered 4-1 by legions of shades and darkshards I am going to need to use tactics that allow me a shred of hope against such incredible odds in order to win.

It sounds to me like you have the attitude of "if outnumbered and outgunned, you deserve to lose and should just let it happen".

Really? Running a lord in circles for half an hour constitutes tactics to you?

No, no its not tactics.

I'm not even gonna use the argument that its cheese. Modifying the game to make it easier is not tactics. Modding the game is actually called modding.

And btw, its not comparable to real soldiers. Real soldiers have brains. They don't do the exact same thing every single time you fight them with 0 capacity to learn. If you were fighting a real person, even a beginner, they'd stop wasting arrows. So the comparison to reality actually is an argument for that being cheese. Something like the ai failing to protect its archers is the type of dumb mistake a player could make, this is not.

Yes.
Present a tempting target and try not to get hit by the arrows of the glory-seekers.
If I mess up, my lord or hero dies. If I do it correctly, I have scored a sporting chance to win.
