If i am fighting them:
Systematic extermination of the enemy.
The capture point is never worth it since the nerfed the ability to just land flying units to capture it.
Yet to have a siege battle last past a single point. seeing as the AI just commit everything at once to attack you, they break
Fight Battle
Profit
Full on cheesing doesn't make the game better.
If i got little time and the result is onesided enough, i'll auto.
Manual depends on my army, usually breaching in 1-2 spots, ideally at points with less towers.
It's simply not true. Using walls is always extremely rewarding but you just need to know how. Planting all your troops on the walls and fighting hopeless melees against a wave of ladder climbers is definitely not the way though.
I sometimes auto-resolve because open field battles are my thing) but when I don't auto-resolve, I use AI general 3 and just sit back and watch

Damn good mod that, I usually activate after battle to chase down survivors and make myself a cup of tea
For the topic though, I have another mod that removes the resource generation, so the AI places the towers at the start and that's that, so I play them and find them fun
Just need a mod that stops victory points and just lets the siege end when one side is dead and I'll be a happy Tamo
For factions with good melee infantry, I typically take the walls with ladders/siege towers and fan out through the streets in squads.
For artillery/gunpowder factions, I use cannons to knock down multiple contiguous wall sections to get a large breach to advance my line through.
And melee factions that focus on large units like Brettonia, Lizardmen or Ogres also knock down multiple wall sections to get their big guys through... then fan out through the streets like the infantry factions.
Another point that works with all of these is, once you take the wall section you can have your own ranged units on them firing into the city. The sight lines are usually pretty good doing that, though you still have to keep enemy melee forces away from them (since the defender doesn't need ladders to instantly get up its own walls)
In general though, I would say that you need a mod that makes garrisons significantly stronger. Why would the battles ever be fun if they are not in doubt? Maybe set battle difficulty a notch higher than you're comfortable with. They need to be close affairs whether attacking or defending.
This ^^
I've a mod that remove the resource generation (so what you build is what you get)
A mod that removes points (so you don't lose/win by capturing a random point, only found this mod a few hours ago)
And the mod that increases garrisons (which I also found today thanks to youtubes)
with melee armies you just rush the gate and blob at the gates. assuming its a strong melee faction you will win with minimal casualties.
if you have access to lores of magic like fire and shadow you don't have to do any of the above. just send in a fast lord and fast caster, blob the enemy up and use pit of shades, flamestorm etc.
So yeah, basicly they suck.
As a race with arty, blast away the guys on the wall, camp one of their points with my ranged and let them come to me (I dont know why they consider it a good idea to attack me, the attacker, when holding an useless supply point) while some heroes run to the main point to backcap them.
As any other race, just throw enough bodies at the problem to make it go away. And backcap them with an invis unit.
