Maybe there could be a thing like, when you are the attacker, it’s assuming you chose how & when, then you do chose a map at least reasonably favorable for you… in that case, as the attacker, you shouldn’t inherit these atrocious sloped maps. At least much more rarely.
But at the contrary as the defender, you should have them more often obviously.
That would be somewhat coherent.
Anyway, even without that, there must be both. It’s part of the game, sometimes the terrain doesn’t favour you, you need to do with.
This map is wacky for sure. I had the same thought.

Idk if you've played this game much but the terrain isn't very natural

Doesn't always win though.
Recently i got screwed by hills and forests cause of a bad positionning. After reloading i slightly moved my army to the adjacent road "tile" and i got a much better battlemap with a clear way (and the road itself which was a nice detail) perfect for my arty
