They are a decent artillery faction, and have access to some very powerful artillery units as well.
This is the decisive factor, the limitation to only one model ruins the chances to stand against factions that use multiple models.
For the legendary campaign I can only advise everyone not to even try to go for artillery with the Chaos Dwarfs. Use cows and fire demons, the rest is garbage.
No, you're going to get your ass kicked and shows me that you've either only looked at multiplayer games for this or haven't tried it yourself in the campaign.

Their ranged is very good. Not top tier compared to others but still very capable, blunderbusses melt all before them, and magma cannon does residual damage and slow after impact which isnt included in stats.

i just generally dislike the chaos dwarfs. everything from their lore, look, mechanics, ridiculess strong and weak stuff within it, how it ♥♥♥♥♥ all over dwarven lore so that it can have these edge-ugly bull loving magic casting weirdo's.
i honestly always hated chaos dwarfs and i hate them even more now that i see them ingame -_-
also their artillary is ridiculess strong compared to pricing. nuff said
Because that's how you balance a game dawg.
Maybe its the higher dmg per shot on such a light armored target, maybe its the 12s less reload time, maybe its the better accuracy or its just the fire dot.
Problem ... THEY ARE THE CHAOS DWARF NOT YOUR AVERAGE PUNY HUMANOID FACTION WITH LOW TECH AND MAGIC.

Have you tried the Dreadquake Mortar? Things tend to disintegrate where those shells land (even the heaviest chorf infantry, so watch where you let them shoot)
Yeah don't know what OP is on about. Chorfs even get beefy flying wizards and vanguard horse archers to help with these things.
Edit: Now I get it- Knight of Slaanesh. He trying to make the chorfs feel bad about their artillery because he doesn't have any. Busted.
