Can't download update!

Okay, so after preordering FOTCD and waiting patiently for it to come out I've tried to install it. However, every single time I try it gets anywhere from halfway to like 90% on the "verifying" stage and then unceremoniously fails with "Disk read error" next to it. No popup or anything. I've tried:
> Retrying the download, several times.
> Restarting Steam, several times.
> Restarting the computer, several times.
> Turning Read-Only off in the Properties for my Steam folder - it keeps turning itself back on.
> Verifying integrity of game files, which gives me the rather worrying message of "All 0 files successfully validated": there are files in the local files location, so I have no clue why it can't seem to notice them.

Any ideas from anyone?

How many drives do you have?
How much free space on each?

Any anitvirus running other than Windows defender?

I have two drives, the one I have TWWIII on has 281 gb free. How do I check which antiviruses I have?

I have Trend Micro Maximum.

There's a few suggestions when you Google it you could try.

Might be worth deleting the game (backup your saves if you don't use cloud)
Reinstall fresh.
Of course, depends on your net speed, etc.

There's always the chance this is doing something but I don't know about it sorry.

If its giving disk error it might really be a disk fault.
Otherwise just try a full reinstall instead.

Right. Adding Steam to Trend's exception list did bupkis. Any other ideas?

Yeah. Reinstall the game.

Reinstalling WORKED! Can't wait to try a Chaos Dwarf campaign tomorrow.
