So it downloads 14gb, but has to open weird ass packages to make changes, so it's working with 66gb to make 14 gb of changes, only 14 gb is actually downloaded.
It's not a very popular method of patching, even if it has it's benefits.
It's not a "steam" thing. There's probably only like 5% of games on steam that use this method lmao
Are you sure of this? Because Steam is telling me that it would take roughly 9 to 12hrs to download this "patch". I should normally download 14GB in roughly 1 1/2 hours.
Absolutely positive. The 14gb download portion utilizes your typical internet speed, whereas the patch / rewrite portion utilizes primarily disk speed.
Guess today is not my day :´) could it be cause of mods I installed?
Thats wrong, the disk speed has nothing to do with this. My game runs on M2. The Speed howeveris 10mbit / s average. Thats not M2 speed AT ALL. its the way this is programmed. This is a pure CA bullcrap thing

This is very much a "Steam Thing". It's repacking and allocating the files from the update. It just so happens when CA updates their games, almost every single file is touched, thus it requires longer for the system to pick through, repair and update those said files.
