Those settings are probably as heavy as all the other settings combined, or at least that's how it used to be.
That was a brilliant mod.
You are just scaling the bitmaps (example 2048x2048 to 1024x1024 etc), which is saving you draw calls, because each time it's multiplied by 4, and larger bitmaps use a lot more vram. I think it's huge in Warhammer 3 because there are so many unique units, effects, and opacity masks used. You want to save those draw calls for the action.
I rather have better shaders/shadows than texture resolution on the models. Both is obviously ideal though.
I fully agree, I even lower my game resolution using spatial upscaling interp from Nvidia but keeping shadows. It's just a little bit blury but much better quality than full res with low graphic options
no issues with shadows but lots of VFX ? yeeeah thats when the FPS starts dropping like a madman.
