IDENTITY OF THE ADVISOR
so based on the role in warhammer 1,2 and 3, i think this is the plot:

1)The advisor found the tome of fates( an artefact of Tzeentch) in the great library of
Altdorf, when the town was besieged;

2)When he read it he became bound and corrupted by it;

3)He can only learn its secrets if he uses the book for someone else's benefit(hence
the advice offered to the player);

4)The raven on his shoulder is Sarthorael the Everwatcher(Greater daemon of Tzeentch);

5)While Sarthorael is away (??) he comes up with a plan to seek the strongest
faction(player chosen faction) to enter the realm of chaos and get a drop of Ursun's
blood to free himself of the curse(seems like he learned a thing or two from his captor);

6)It clearly backfires, as in the end, even though he says he is free, Sarthorael is back on
his shoulder.

7) He ends up dead during the Chaos campaign, zoof'd by his master.

After multiple factions campaigns in all 3 games and with minimal lore knowledge of the warhammer fantasy, i suppose the advisor becomes an agent of Tzeentch after the events in TW WH3, and seeks to create chaos and disorder amongst the old(and new) world factions.
He becomes blind after he uses Ursun's blood( because he is no longer under the control of Tzeentch) and he cannot read the tome any longer, but he is already corrupted.
The events are in reverse cronological order, with Warhammer 3 being the first.
In warhammer 3 he is uncorrupted, and in warhammer 1 he becomes unrecognisable.
Another clue that he is a servant of the changer of ways, is that he can change his appearance depending on which faction he talks to.
His desire to sow total war between the factions becomes clear in the first 2 games because the more you progress during a faction's campaign, the more maniacal he becomes, whispering to the player that everyone conspires and must be put down, etc

Feel free to correct/add things i missed out :)
have a great day

It should be noted that his role was barely existant in game 2 and that in the epilogues of the Lizardmen they mention that N'kari is coming and that N'kari seemed to have some behind the scenes work during the events of the Vortex campaign.

All that scheming just for a bird boy to betray him and then get clapped the turn he is summoned. All according to plan.

Eh? I thought the Skaven were behind Warhammer 2 vortex campaign. Or was that only for the Lizardmen campaign?
I'll fully admit I only once completed a vortex ritual because that campaign was just boring.

Sarthorael only appeared to him post-Realms of Chaos. He goes blind not because of the blood, but because Tzeentch decides he doesn't want to let him go and does it to screw with him. He was never free.

N'kari also pops up in Arkhan's epilogue where he tries to resurrect Nagash but instead of summoning him, he gets N'kari to pop up and ominously say that he is coming while Nagash is busy doing his own thing which involves getting ready to fight Chaos.

With all the stories and weaves, it's almost impossible to piece together logic, so it's best to just have your fun with your imagination.

If you play as Kairos in Chaos Campaign, you steal the bear's eyes. But then the Advisor goes blind. And they say the bear got away, lore wise.

Did Kairos steal the advisor's eyes to see the present?

I just try to have fun with it. Do my own little Lord of the Rings, whatever. High Fantasy fun. Modern DnD.

Well Warhammer lore is pretty convoluted anyhow. As it would almost have to be as a game made by and for fans of the general works popularized by Tolkien but didn’t want to get sued.

Just make up your own lore as you go. Like they did. For example, when I play Beastmen, they’re doing what they do as revenge for being captured and eaten (among other atrocities) by the evil humans, greenies, elves and dwarfs. Something our tabletop group came up with and was actually really funny at the time. Theyre the real victims…

I’m pretty sure he went blind because that was the cost of reading the tome of fates, but your right about saarthorael, he only appeared after the advisor read the tome, which the advisor then works to turn various factions against each other for the vortex which would cause them to be distracted from chaos gaining strength while the vortex weakens, and game 1 is technically where it all comes at a peak with chaos invading under archaon to bring the end times, and Saarthoreal betraying the advisor and killing him and then challenging archaon to become everchosen (and failing)
