I thought vortex was fine and mortal empires is nice only thing that might get annoying is the random rifts.
Either way, unless i'm mistaken Chaos Realms are going to be completely gone on the Immortal Empires campaign so it is what it is. You only have a month or two of "suffering".
Secondly, you don't have to win the campaign by getting the souls and doing the final battle, you can win by taking over 50 settlements and destroying the other major factions at least that was what I coudl gather from a streamer and the win conditions.
Gates keep spawning because Chaos never stops. That and they are insanely useful for traversing the map.
The Ice Court actually makes sense just to have for Katarin and not for Kostaltyn, so I get that.
Both Miau and Zhao are tasked with defending the wall. It is their duty as Dragons. It will always be their duty as dragons, just like Cathay in general just have caravans going out. It is just how Cathay does business.
You have no clue if it is unfun, because you have not played the game, you have watched other people play the game and that is it. From watching gameplay all you can surmise is whether the bugs are something you can live with and maybe a vague idea of the mechanics of each faction.
If I had taken to heart the horrendous ways that most streamers played Nurgle with barely any interaction with the plague mechanic, I'd also be of the opinion that Nurgle sucks, but it so happens that I realized early on that Nurgle rely on his campaign mechanic more so than any other faction for battles and that he gets some insanely powerful plagues. That's the sort of faction I love to play. The strategy that goes into a Nurgle playthrough outweighs the derp Khorne Warriors goes bonk.
No, they said that the jury was still out on whether the Chaos Realms will persist in the combined map. In fact most people would like them to be there in some form. I would like them to be there. I mean.. Travelling from Cathay to Lustria is going to be a pain in the ass without them.
You're right about the travel, at the same time it's going to be an even more massive pain in the ass to get all those negatives and have enemies teleport into your lands unless you keep characters around everywhere to shut them off.
Seriously though, why would pre-order this game if dont own 1, and barely played 2?
Not trying be a ♥♥♥♥ but big reason to pre-order is that you have existing content from first two games (and, well obviously want to play this game), ie this is a for sure expenditure in gaming I know going to make, and I dont care about saving money cos ultimately, kinda losing out without third game and the carry over of content.
for you my friend, why not just wait till on sale instead of getting so bent out of shape about something only heard about through hearsay and social garbage stuff? Either refund the game, or try it out and learn form your own opinions.
Don't group think kids.
They could just keep the Chaos Realms as something we can control and the portals as something that'll pop up every X turns and disappear after X which we can use to teleport around the world, I mean.. You won't know where it connects so.. You may end up in a place you didn't want to go and discover an enemy you'd have preferred were not discovered (High Elves.. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bastards declare war on everyone).
The community will probably be split between immortal empire and those that like the smaller campaign like vortex or Chaos Realm.
Will wait to make my own decisions personally.
Mortal Empires is all I care about. Never completed the main campaign in Warhammer 1 and never played more than an hour of Warhammer 2's campaign.
LegenofTotalWar mentioned that they do infact stop spawning at the end, its just up to the player if they want to go around and close them all, if you close one after a victory it is closed for good, if you dont close one it'll keep popping out armies.
