Chaos Dwarfs Gyrocopter Counter?
Recently upgraded my PC and reinstalled WH3, which runs beautifully now. Picked up some DLC I missed as Chaos Dwarfs look fun. Started a RoC campaign and all went well at the start. I like the mechanics, industrial economy, mining, factories and the lot.

After completing the first drill part, I went to do the teleport battle (against non-Chaos Dwarfs). All went well until the final reinforcement wave and the gyrocopters that came with it. It's still fairly early (around 30 turns I guess) and I had archers and blunderbuss units but have not unlocked the upper half of my roster. Have magma cannons too.

The gyrocopters went crazy, seems like they have more ammo than I recall when I last played them. They just hovered over me and ripped me to pieces. Our flaming arrows and blunderbusses did virtually nothing against them. How do you counter these with the Chaos Dwarfs units? Maybe there' something I have yet to recruit that can do the job well? What do you use against these infernal machines?

the taurus or blunderbusses should work fine

The blunderbusses did not do well, but maybe I'll give it another go with more of them, even maybe holding a pair of them in reserve until the copters appear. Do any of the magic options work well against flying contraptions?

I don't have taurus yet. I can hold off on the battle until I can build new stuff and recruit new units. Thanks for the reply

All your flying lords/mages will do well against them. Classic spells like spirit leech, fireball or if they are stuck in place well-placed searing doom will also hit. Final transmutation..good if you can hit multiple units, but it's pricey. I wouldn't bother with fate of bjuna, it's waaay too high in cost.

Any melee flying units or just guns with supporting hobgoblin archers. You just have to take fights in a smart way, bait them in early with some faster units, so they can be shot down before the main lines crash, don't let your units pursue into their units and you should be fine.

They will force you to micro, so enjoy the learning curve!

Thanks. yeah, I have no flying units yet, and no casters really, but was hoping to find out which I should focus on to get past this. I was thinking maybe there was a higher tier archer or ranged unit with AP that would work well in this case.

generally any AP ranged should have effect against dwarven armour.

They don't have much health a few hobgoblin archers should put a hurting on them.

Gyros are pretty damn fragile, an early game Chorf army should contain a sizeable contingent of hobgoblin archers, those will do the job via numbers alone.

How many blunderbusses did you use against how many gyrocopters?
