By the time I get T4/T5 unit access, the game is basically over
That's my only frustration with the game as it stands now

The only time I get late game units is through RoR , or starting units - because it just takes forever to get a settlement up to make later tier units but when that comes it's basically decided already and rather boring

Bollocks. Even dwarfs get massive growth now.

Are you playing on easy or something?

The costs of capital improvements is insanely high + military buildings

All available income is going to T1-T3 and that's what you essentially beat the campaign with

With casual 2h/day playing that's true.
With hardcore playing toptier units could be achieved quickly.

same for me

He is not wrong guys, if you get unlucky it takes way to long especially with some factions.
DecayWolf Sep 6, 2024 @ 7:07pm
Raise difficulty. Some factions can be at war against the entire map, others like TK, where you have to research army limit or buy with jars, takes way longer... Meaning you can't just paint the map, otherwise you'll get attacked by different sides, while you left in one direction, while the other was open. Takes longer, and thus you'll have more time to get T4/T5.

Before this patch I'd never reach tier 4 before the campaign was over, now it's possible depending on the faction.
Another factor is also how fast and how well you build your eco.

If you have say an entire continent, dozens of armies... Saving eco to a single province T4/T5 is rather trivival.

This begs the question to either easing Tmax builds or prolong campaign endgaming with 100 turns. I am the guy going for long campaing.

Its very race dependent. As some of the extreme examples, Vampire Counts get T5 in the first few turns of the game, but on the other end of the spectrum, Lizardmen capitals take stooopidly long to build. It also depends on what campaign goal you have set for yourself. Short, long, domination, alternative goals (modded), or just stopping when you get bored.

Usually I get to use some t4, t5 not so much.

Not to mention once you get the building you have recruit for several turns then even more than that travel for many turns to get the frontline.

"Just raise difficulty"
I play very hard/very hard. Is legendary that much different?

Dunno, never played below legendary. People say it is.
Try VH first though;

I kinda wish you had to get the entire region to T-3 to get points to upgrade to t4. Because it's easier to sink your pop into your capital to rush t4 than go for full t3 than tier 4. IDK midgame just really barley exists.

I agree+higher tier units quite often feel overpriced to me, which makes city development unimportant. Lots of higher tier units are double or triple more expensive then some basic tier archers but don't actually perform on that level.
I guess MP mode is to blame, but then again MP is mostly about trash units spam so i dunno.
I also often use mainly tier 3, because I prefer two tier 3 units over one tier 4/5 units.

Same for me, T4/T5 units not only need expensive building but are also often 2 turns to recruit which is a huge con
Also lots of heroes in armies is often better than high tier units
For example with Dawi I don't get much units above T3 (Gyros, Irondrakes, Thunderers, Cannons, Longbeards and Thanes are T3... what do you need more ?), those make very good armies, then add like 4-5 heroes
Same for Empire, Skaven, Vampire Counts, you can play a whole game with mostly T1/T2 replacable "trash", some damage dealing T3 units and lords/heroes
Some races can get high tier stuff more easily, Nurgle, Dawi Grudge settlers, Lizardmen dinos summon, then I get more, but eventually I use T3 units up to the point the game is won indeed, then build T4+ for fun only
