Total War: WARHAMMER III

Total War: WARHAMMER III

Kislev Roster is meh for me.
One main issue with the Kislev roster is that they don’t have too many melee infantry options, so far they only have Tzar Guard. The remaining are hybrid infantry. İt would have been great to have some low-tier and mid-tier melee only infantry options.

Another issue is in regards their heroes. They lack a melee hero and there are only 2 mount options who are the same for both lords and heroes. The LL’s don’t have their own unique mounts which i find interesting. Katarin could have at least gotten her own sled, she had one in the old lore. The Elemenal bear could have been a good mount option for the ice witches, ice maidens and Katarin.

Overall the roster just seems meh; the artillery options are limted, melee infantry options are limited, mount options, hero options. Most of the focus was spent on hybrid infantry and a bit on the cav.
Also i don’t like the design of Tzar guard, kossars, armoured kossars and Streltsi. The axe would look better under the barrel imo. The other 3 could use some sleeves, it triggers my OCD

As far as I can see, they added nearly everything from the lore here, there isn't alot that GW gave them in the TT.

In the coming dlc for the game later, they will probably have to make up stuff for them. I hope they add things that will please most people.
Well there is no doubt in that but i expected more :/
Patriarch sounds like the lector hero, so melee hero.

More like the battle priest of the empire, instead of empire captain
Agreed. Pretty underwhelming for a month of built up hype. Just one arty choice? Was kind of expecting a stationary arty piece to accompany Lil grom. There's also no pure melee legendary lord since Kostaltyn is more of a support character. But yes the lack of unique mounts is disappointing. Could have given the Tsarina a sled or a unique Snow Leopard Idk. Seems strange she rides a war bear.

Yeah that's the one I meant. They don't have a melee warrior but at least a melee support. You probably won't see them soloing a bloodthirster but can at least help with normal units.

Honestly I don't mind the lack of pure melee infantry since from the looks of it almost all of Kislev's range infantry are going to be pretty good in a melee fight.
Thats fine. We cant all like the same thing.
Their units aren't bad but I think the issue is how much the chaos factions are anticipated that ruined the hype for kislev.
I personally believe that their roster is satisfactory. However, it might feel better if they added in another bear cavalry variant as well as a few more mount options for lords and heroes.

Unless I'm mistaken and missing something in the blog post, the only bear cavalry option we're getting are the War Bear Riders. I'm fairly certain that nearly every monstrous cavalry unit possesses a variant where the riders have spears, halberds or lances. Why couldn't they give us a second War Bear Rider unit that follows this pattern? This would also allow CA to bring back the brown bears for one of the two units.

Its probably because they saw how many people were complaining about how many bears were in their roster and thought that having two bear cavalry units would have just made things worst.
The roster is very boring overall.
- no ungols
- no chekists
- few artillery options
- no ice sleds

The mod is way more interesting.

I think they don't want anymore line support tools for a faction that's already pushing a ton of hybrid infantry and better quality infantry than Empire standards. The Snow kitty seems like its implementation is well thought out, its more comparable to a black coach with its niche sniping role. War Sleds are also line support tools these can be used in the same vein as anti infantry cavalry(you want) since they are no war wagons.

I mean, the artillery options are limited for a simple reason; if they had potent artillery it´d make them an artillery race and much more similar to the Empire.

In fact a lot of work seems to go into making them different from the Empire visually and gameplay-wise.
Shame about the lack of options on heroes and other units, more is always more fun, but a lot of it I think is to make them less jack-of-all-trades and more specialized than their floppy hatted neighbours. Less of a re-skin, if you will.
