Ai runs out of sieges
Since the update happened I've seen the Ai run out of settlements when I try to attack is which allows the enemy lord to live. It's been really annoying when I'm trying to siege their last lord in their last settlement and they just run or sail off. The player army can't do that tho which is super unfair if you care more about keeping your lord alive more than keeping the settlement

Players can also escape from settlements that have a dock while they are under siege. That's an intended mechanic.

Playing beastmen last night, I ambushed a Kislevitte army that the auto said would cause a valiant defeat for me, but instead became a decisive victory. Not saying Im such a great player, I only played that on Hard battle difficulty and I think this result was more down to the fact that auto is flawed, but the weird thing was that both the Kislevitte general and 2 out of the 3 heroes fled the field right away. Only 1 hero stayed to fight with their troops as they were charged from all sided by my minotaurs and crumbled, and even he tried to flee eventually (but was caught and died). Why did the general, their wizard and the other character all run towards the escape point as soon as the fighting started? Sure, during the same AI turn a second Kislevitte army attacked my now revealed beastmen with the escaped general and the other few escapees as reinforcements and there was a much harder fight (pyrrhic victory, but at least a win instead of a complete defeat as the auto wanted it to be), but those characters running away from the first ambush battle was just weird. I have seen enemy armies escape from ambushed before of course, by marching most of their units off the map while maybe sacrificing a few units to hold you off, but this was ONLY the general, the wizard and one more character. Everything else stayed behind to fight until they broke and ran (which admittedly did not take long).

Strange...

in ambush battles when the ai feels like it doesnt stand a chance in hell it will try and go to the RUN AWAYYYY RUN AWAYYYYY point. if they succeed they escaped.

its completely fine tho u destroyed their entire army and as the beastmen i think u get some campaign map movement after a win ( i could be wrong my bad). so its all good.

they probably had the speed to do so tbh the rest probably didnt even have a choice in the matter.

AI is still cowardly. They run off the walls during a siege

can you only escape by sea or by land as the two port settlements i have siege they all escaped by land and one and bypassed my armies

For some reason the AI can ignore zone of control when it comes to being sieged. They literally do -attack move- -cancel attack- -movement- to get away. Im not entirely sure how they do it, because the player cant (it really seems like a bug, since it wasnt in the last major update).

They can do it while inside the settlement under siege.
thats odd because i right now have an army being sieged for multiple turns and they cant leave or do anything at all

They run away, then wait for you to take the town, and because it's their last town, as you are building and getting more troops, they siege you so that you have to waste an entire turn.

Unless city is a port or Lord was sitting outside, he can't flee a siege - or it's a bug
But it doesn't change much, if he has no city the lord and his last army will launch a suicide attack on his turn and will die as well

Just finished getting mods sorted and my first reaction was to look for a mod causing this.

Have not found all the pieces, but it appears when a settlement is attacked, if an army is present, the army is attacked first. What I have not figured out is does the army present get a choice of retreat, defend (allowing siege), or attack?
AI will not attack any of my settlements with an army in garrison.
