I've heard very good things about its diplomacy system. Combat is decent if slightly hero focused in romance mode, but you do have records that makes it way more historical.

Main issues seem to be bugs, stability and lackluster DLC which led to CA pulling the plug and not fixing the former 2 issues. Be interesting to see if they use a warhammer approach and allow content from 3K to be used in 3K 2 as a way of winning people back.

With mods and if you are a KOEI/Three Kingdoms/Dynasty Warriors fan then yes its a solid game. Vanilla though? Dogmeat. If you are the kind of TW player who avoids the workshop like a plague then skip it. Not even worth the time it takes to install. Also the game is unfinished without mods. TBH I would say all recent TW games are boring dogmeat without mods.

I enjoyed vanilla 3k, if you have gamepass and like total war games it should easily be worth the install.

They did a great job with the diplomacy and some of the campaign mechanics just keep in mind it plays a lot different from the WH series.

If you like TW in general, then jump in- it's very good. If you only like WH, and can't get past the lack of unit variety, then probably not. Also, if you consider yourself a fan of RTS games, probably not.

Game Pass is great for removing all stakes to trying out a game you weren’t sure enough about to risk money on.

I wish the game pass had another tier like with the ubisoft equivalent, that came with all the DLC to the game. For something like the warhammer games that could get nuts, but in general if I play a game I want to try the major expansions as well

Gamepass is one of the reason why the gaming industry is becoming more and more like mcdonalds. Hopefully we will still get some games that are pieces of arts.

But, if you like most of the total wars you should find some funs in 3kingdom.

The game is really nice for the diplomacy side and the sieges are better in 3k than they are in warhammer 3.

If what you like the most is lords and heroes, then you will be a little bit disappointed if you compare that to warhammer, the skill tree and abilities are very basic and repetitive.


the Campaign map in 3k is gorgeous. Probably the best thing the game has to offer.

Unless they nerfed them to the ground ( been a while since i played ) Cavalry is the opposite in 3k. It is very strong compared to anything else.
