It is possible that these areas will be for new Legendary Lords and not for freestanding new races/factions. It wouldn't take much lore bending to put The Monkey King or even another one of the Celestial Dragons on an expedition in one of these areas. High Elf colonies, Dark Elf pirates, lost Lizardmen cities, Skaven burrows. Pretty much any of the game II factions could end up down in that area. Not to mention Greenskins hordes (known to threaten Cathay at times) or Bretonnian crusades or Imperial expeditions. It could be pretty much anything.

Not to mention that new LLs from any of the Chaos factions could theoretically start anywhere on the map.

Since Hall said they weren't considering Khuresh or Ind factions back when the prototype map that was leaked included these landmasses, the most likely answer is that there are either no plans to make them traversable or they don't have big plans, they are just going to kind of stick someone there
Adding LL's has never been a barrier to changing or adding areas to the map. Sollend as you'll know was made its own province for Gelt. The witch wood was added for the sisters which actually changed that little area quite a bit along with others for the Wood elves various trees.

If Ind and Khuresh are planned to remain non traversable then CA have made a mistake by making them so large. Its an absolute waste of space if its never intended to be used.

So i think its far more likely that your right when you say they'll use them as start locations later down the line. I just think its strange that if they have no intention of adding the lore correct residents why they cant just make them playable now.
Given that they pretty much have included the entire world, I assume they figured it was simpler to just fit them in as unusable landmasses rather than to try and awekwardly morph the rest of the nearby landmasses around them to fill up the space or just have another blank area like that in the top right corner.

But they probably also figured it would be an unnecessary bloat in if it was made playable but only filled with minor factions so it was unlikely many players would actually see it.

Sea lanes, it seems the final touch of the map (union of the extremes).

Besides allowing a more direct contact to the factions of the extremes (technically the most isolated), it gives a global perspective to the map, as a world (a great idea. as a TW innovation).

Suggestion:

Maybe in the future (additional content), if the north and south extremes, are more defined, allow to add more travel ways ⮁, as another possibility, of a more dynamic interaction between factions.

Others:

If in WH lore, there are (small) sea vortices, it would be a good idea as a random alternative travel, between them.(extra dynamic).

On the other hand, as a unique mechanic to control the great elven vortex (owning 5-7 coastal cities of the same), it would allow to use it to travel selectively between the other smaller ones (as a utility).

More options: (edit.p)

In the case of adding a north and south definition, it enables the possibility to make the map without borders (full perspective), that is, it visually joins the extremes of all directions, in a continuous way (in the minimap, the same effect occurs), allowing to have a improved global perspective.

This effect is also viable in its original form and can be applied without such definition (as West<>East).

It is essential, in case of considering this possibility, to make it optional, to respect all public preferences (global view: with/without borders).

Let hope this map wouldn't be overload on the computer. I mean the loading wasn't good in warhammer 2 mortal empires map and if this map is bigger than the computer resource requirement will be more as well.

This will be one big job for C.A. to fine tune the loading and turn time for a giant map and 278 starting factions on the map at the same time.

This is huge.

Good work to C.A. !

Thanks for sharing! Looks good, and I do hope they deliver. Kinda worried about turn times, they might actually mess something up even though they seem to have it under control at this point. Fingers crossed.

Oh, good job CA. I like the sea lanes concept

First time i'm impressed with Warhammer III, there is hope yet.

Any idea what the empty northeast part of map might be for?

This puzzles me also.

Taking a guess at the empty areas of the map in the northeast, that'll be where the four realms of chaos are. They will be accessible through a different mechanic perhaps, and revamped to be less annoying in IE.

The Haunted Forest and the Jungles of Chi'An are small, single region provinces. Probably Wood Elf main forests?
While it looks like the forest in the southlands desert has been replaced with the Heart of the Jungle.

Ind and Kuresh, the others are the Eastern Steppes, aka Chaos Wastes.

More sea lanes is needed in the big map.

Interesting that Ind and Khuresh are featured prominently on the map. Hopefully this means at least one of them has a chance as dlc.

It definitely feels very similar to the way its set up in RoC map for the 4 realms. But when that map was revealed it already had the 4 realms represented on the map. So them not being there on the IE map means they probably won't be there (at least on release).

It does still beg the question about what exactly they plan to with that additional space down the line.

No this way has a strategic element as well since you can guard the sea lane if you wish with naval armies.
