Campaign pace

Has anyone had issues with the overall pace of the Immortal Empires campaign moving too fast? I just gave up on a campaign, because by turn 37 the entire empire was taken over by VC. Everything Gone. Wiped out. At the same time nearly the whole of the World's Edge Mountains were overrun by rats. Meanwhile I'm still puddling about in my local neighborhood. its not feeling like real total war, im enjoing a slow pace campaigns when i can build up my province and then go conquer next, but WH 3 force me to push province by province, left new province with empty building slots and push to another. for me is more enjoyable when you have to go to war with a faction then take 10 turns to build up your territory. Anyone have any recommendations for slowing down the pace of the campaign without necessarily dropping the difficulty? Mods?

You could always try a faction potential mod. Slows the campaign down a lot as minor factiors fight back more so map painting is a lot slower for everyone. The whole map otherwise is just the same factions every time and things get painted real fast as many faction are nothing but completetly helpless punching bags. Can make early game as some campaigns pretty brutal though as your own early enemies will also put up more fight so you will need to be more careful and build up more yourself as well. Quite fond of swapping in "Better Randomized Faction Potentials" for some of my runs because the map is wildly different, far more of a sandbox as well.

This game certainly favors a more aggressive play style. If you want to play slow and casual you're going to see stuff like that happen.

if you want a slow total war game, go play shogun 2
that game is so mind-numbingly slow, takes 100 turns for anything to happen, you'll love it
