Regardless, he never becomes a Daemon Prince.
What prompts you to do it?
Whatever the lore, in this game he can.
That's a good point!
The crumbling effect is completely negligible. By the time you get the skill, you'll already be beyond OP to even consider losing a fight
Thanks; I didn't know the consensus was so overwhelming toward taking the skill. I guess I am so paranoid of crumbling, but then - as you guys say - you shouldn't be in a position of losing manual combat with uber-powerful characters such as Archaon.
Yes i got muddled up with the OP and other posts mentioning daemon princes. Archaon doesnt physically change in to one like other mortal lords but with the skill he could technically become a deamon. Negatives are definitely trivial as you mentioned.
except you can recover from running away
and then come back with a charge bonus and recovery spells and effects
things that dont apply to crumbling, being demonic is purely a negative except for the pitiful physical resist
@OP you can babysit him with Karnak to retain the Phys resist, but otherwise you will have to pick your fights otherwise you wont get anything from it.
And while Archy will hardly never lose a fight against AI, it is a potential thing that could go wrong, and daemonic instability is insanely brutal, if you hit negative, he's likely going down no chance to recover..
Personally i am a bit torn on it, and tend to go without it.. Most decent lords that can actually fight against him, will have magic weapon anyway..
But it does help with fighting stuff like sem's that often does not have magical weapons..
