How to counter doomseekers as Nurgle?
Playing on legendary difficulty and are in war with Thorgrim, he is spamming doomseekers with some slayers in the mix.

How do I handle this? I cannot win a fight without losing over 50% of my army which is unsustainable.

Magic? Even with their resist they have no armor so even the cheap spells will wreck them.

Doomseekers are anti infantry. Shouldn't your anti infantry toads hard counter them?

Any kind of slayer unit absolutely hates being charged by cav. They got no armor and no charge defence so bog them with some fatty nurge units and then go for rear charge with lances. its kinda more micro oriented, but horsies can wreck em.
Also shooting them is good idea, but I do not really think nurgle is that good in the shooting department.

You toss'em skulls with exalted plaguebearers or rotflies, idk. Maybe with some great unclean one Mortis effect they'll become more managable, or as it was said before, use cav.

The basic Toads lose, Pox Riders win but frankly take way too much damage. Nurgle's toads are sort of garbage, it's difficult to say they "hard counter" anything. Plus other types of Slayers are anti-large or ranged.

The best option would probably be to get good ranged units via allied recruitment, Tamurkhan can get Chaos Dwarf units pretty damn early with his chieftain mechanic.

Here's some Nurgle options that work (not accounting for campaign buffs, or them getting shot up):

Plague Drones with Death's Heads work, if you get to spend all your ammo. Basically no casualties.

Marauder Horsemen can take out most of their health with throwing axes, just takes all their ammo and some kiting.

Rot Knights are a decent solution, being capable of winning even a straight fight, plus they have regeneration, so they should be able to heal up some before the battle ends. Ideally have another unit tank or hit the Doomseekers from behind.

Furies charging the Doomseekers from behind while another unit charges from the front is
an excellent choice if you want minimal casualties. Decent options for this would be:

1. Forsaken (will take a chunk of damage, budget option)

2. Plague Ogres (will take a little bit of damage)

3. Chosen with shields (will take little to no damage)

4. Bile Trolls (will take effectively no damage)

5. Rot Knights (again, will take no damage)

I wouldn't recommend Chaos Warriors, Plaguebearers, or units cheaper that them for the above strat against Doomseekers, though they can work, especially with buffs or healing.

Four out of the five units I listed above should usually be able to take them on 1v1 in a pinch too (Trolls likely lose), while taking varying amounts of damage. If Doomseekers eat a Forsaken charge from the front, and then you charge Plague Ogres in from any direction, it'll be a decisive victory.

Ku'gath. He can solo them so easily it's laughable. Same probably goes for Exalted Great Unclean Ones, as well as any high-level or well-equipped lords or heroes in general. Don't expect a naked level one lord to win, though.

For spells, The Fate of Bjuna just got nerfed, but it still does a decent chunk of damage. Probably not worth it if they have more than their base 35% spell resist. Fleshy Abundance heals can be used to prevent your more vulnerable units from taking too much damage.

Thank you an excellent answer. However the forsaken will become absolutely wrecked by the doomseekers (they have like the double attack and defence)

I tested with the Chosen with shields they take a beating for sure, due to the armour piercing but they can hold somewhat.
