No walls in a FOREST?...
Can someone please for the love of god explain why Laurelorn Forest, at T3 settlement and T3 walls.. has NO walls? not even a basic settlement battle with some buildings? I genuinely do not understand... are the trees impossible to cut down??? we can't import some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lumber and stone to make a wall? this is so mind boggling stupid

I'm seriously struggling to imagine what possible "lore" or "balance" reason there is to just straight remove the ability to defend anything without shoving an entire army everywhere? the garrison is a joke in every settlement even at the highest tiers, you really need to remove their ability to hide behind some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥ walls?

I'm absolutely baffled, what a moronic mechanic. Should we build a large palisade of wood around this big tree? maybe a small fort at the foot in the large roots? NAH march so far out of the way of the settlement the GIANT TREE isn't even visible on the field battle, like these morons marched 100 miles away to fight demons.

Well I thought the reason were that using wood for walls would be antithetical to their whole reason why they are woodelves.. Right? I use them to skirmish in deep wooded terrain little by little I wood-whittle the enemy. Besides, you can build them in the choke-points.

I dont think Durthu would appreciate the skin and limbs of his elders used as a piece of rampart.

So you lost that battle?

They are wood elves. Elves that live in forests and are close to nature. Not every faction builds proper cities in the lore.

And more pointedly not every faction needs to play exactly the same. There are strengths & weaknesses. You have to just deal with the asymmetric nature of the game.

Wood elves? Walls? Not a likely combination!

Because they are beardless losers. Pick Dwarfs, enjoy your strong walls made with proper Dawi hands.

Warhammer lore is easy to access. Go look it up. There are lore reasons for WE not having walls.

Because that's a forest. It's in the name, just saying. And a magical one too. Cutting trees in there to build a wall seems like a very FAFO thing to me...

I'm not a woodelf, I'm a human being, ♥♥♥♥ the trees ♥♥♥♥ the elves I could give a single ♥♥♥♥ less. I used it as a jumping off point which in hindsight was stupid since its poor climate, but just the wording in the actual buildings makes no sense anymore... like if they were gunna change this so drastically they should have changed the flavor text and icons to match what is happening.

I'm not building walls I'm building a larger garrison. Where do they live? who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ knows. I would imagine any military worth anything in this universe would have the capability to transport a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ few carts of lumber from adjacent territories to make actual walls.. instead of removing them from the game and keeping all the "TALL WALLS" "EMPIRE MEN BUILD BIG WALLS TO KEEP OUT CHOAS BLAH BLAH" and the battle is in an open ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ field? what? what walls? there are -literally- no walls and we're in the middle of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nowhere. If the reason is you cant use the wood in the local place then just make it take longer to build, to account for "transporting" wood/stone... idk..

Just to be clear, the trees are aware, hostile, and can and will kill anyone they feel threatens them. How would you even clear space to build walls in such a horrible hostile, terrible environment? Probably safer to live in the chaos waste, magical wood elf forests suck.

Ah, I see my bad. I thought YOU were the WE, now I understand you just took it over...

I guess my thought would be is CA hasn't thought about other factions building fortress map stylized in Wood Elf Fashion.

It would be an interesting design WE pattern suited for other factions. You got me.. I would only invest in those places if I have a good buffer zone and enough time to put garrison there.

When I think of Wood Elves and walls I usually think of something similar to what was shown in the first Maleficient film, except more colourful and better camouflaged.

yeah in hindsight I just wouldn't have bothered settling it but since it's a single location province I just used it for replenishing even with the poor climate it worked better then just standing in the middle of nowhere encamped. Chaos was taking over the norther part of the forest over and over so I just sacked it and used the actual Laurelorn Forest as a staging ground sorta.

the land to the south belongs to Kislev which I'm allied with so, even if not MY territory it's my friends territory.. I don't see why we couldn't ship some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wood to the Forest lmao

See, wood elves will send trees into combat but they won't cut trees down.
