The game has a bunch of tool tips explaining but you should just be prepared to deal with rebellions and look it as free food and experience, high corruption gives you massive defensive buffs in local province.
Oh so you just have to expect your cities to always lose control as Skaven? Just wave after wave of rebellions ?
They can also, as you know, buff up settlements in the early game to massive levels.
There are plenty of ways to get tier 5 capitals in like 10 turns with this mechanic.
That is why there are buildings that reduce corruption.
Also makes it easy to see if ruins are colonized if you see any skaven corruption there.
