Lore / homebrew question about Tz'arkan
Hello my dear friends,
I'm interested in your opinion about Tz'arkan, the Drinker of Worlds.

As far as I'm aware, it was active at the very first Chaos incursion in the Warhammer world. It was then trapped by Chaos Sorcerers in a Warpstone so it could serve as a "battery" for them. After a while, the influence even overthrew the coven and the Daemon could possess someone, consume it's soul and body and broke free.
However, then the backstory of him is somehwat incoherent about his origin or better: his allignment.

While it is described as a Greater Daemon of Slaanesh, it also led Khorne and Tzeentch Daemons into battle against the Dark Elves. That alone is not possible (at least from my point of view) if it's a Daemon of Slaanesh.

There's the rivalry between Khorne and Slaanesh as well as the hatred for Khorne against Tzeentch. Yes, Slaanesh can manipulate mortals and I guess somehow also Daemons, but only for a short period of time and not a whole warhost (at least not in my headcanon; the Gods would interfere). Also Slaanesh would not approve this too (again: in my headcanon).

When it was defeated, it returned back to it's warpstone and possessed the next person that touched the artifact - in this regard Malus.

IF it was a Slaaneshi Daemon, wouldn't it very easy for it to consume a Dark ELF soul ? I mean, Slaanesh is the antagonist of the elves and Dark Elves are even more prone to get eaten by She who Thrists.

The whole scheming is also an aspect of Tzeentch, it's frenzy is an aspect of Khorne, it's seduction is an aspect of Slaanesh and well, it's cycle of Death and Renewal is somewhat an aspect of Nurgle I guess.

So, could it be that Tz'arkan is more a Daemon of Chaos Undivided ? This would at least make more sense (for me)

The reason why I ask is: I want to make a specific Tz'arkan mod and I want to make it believable and founded with actual lore and not only rely on my headcanon.

tl;dr:
Is Tz'arkan really a Slaaneshi Daemon or a Daemon of Chaos Undivided?

The wiki says Tz'arkan is a Greater Deamon of Slaanesh.

Tz'arkan is a Greater Deamon of Slaanesh.

Malus spreads Slaanesh corruption in game I believe.

Khorne hates Slaanesh and vice versa, and Tzeentch and Khorne hate each other.
Yet in undivided armies all chaos can work together.
They work together under the Everchosen, Deamons are lead by Belakor.
And Khorne and Tzeentch units can be lead by Slaanesh Lords.

It's Chaos. It does whatever.

I know what the wiki says ^^ I want to know if the lore nerds think, this is logical and reasonable. What the game does and how it handles some things aren't always lore-true - that's why I want to sip from the knowledge of the lore nerds haha

BTW That Slaanesh Lords can lead non-slaaneshi units is also somewhat...debateable.

Imo it would only make sense when the leader is an Everchosen or a powerful Undivided creature, like Daniel, Be'lakor or Kholek - or an Undivided daemon.

But do Undivided daemons exist ? At least in newer lore they don't.

Undivided Chaos daemons do exist, like Chaos Furies, and a few others. There are also Greater Undivided Daemons, like Baalrukhs, in older Lore, and those have never been retconned.

Well in "older Lore" there was also Malal and Nippon and stuff ^^ soooo....

I would love to have "proper" Undivided Daemons but honestly it doesn't fit well and Furies are also somewhat weird because they are also themed by Chaos gods, right?

As you may see from the Daemon's name itself originally it was Tzeentchian. That's also why he's whispering stuff to Malus trying to make him lose his mind.

It was, however, retconned and now he's claimed to be a Slaaneshi one.

I'm aware. But neither Tzeentch nor Slaanesh fit it very well imo ^^' The character of the daemon alone hints it's like a mixed up daemon, hence my question
