Help me pick my Faction / Lord

I got all 3 games and DLC's. I played a bit with High Elves in the past, and I feel like I want to come back, and I wonder what to play.

I'm going to do the Immortal Empires campaign.

Here is what I'm basically looking for: Fire and foremost, I want a lot of Explosions and AOE. I don't care so much about defense, I just want to see the battlefield xplode and BURN. I also would like an army that is more focused on heroes, lord, and uniques, less so on nameless units (obviously got to have some, but generally they are more boring for me)

SOunds like CHORFS to me. Biggest explosions, guns, and most fire. POwerful lords and heroes, swarms of cheap slave chaff, and some very high end elites. Can't go wrong.

Chaos Dwarves are an interesting option, I must admit, I never played them so it would be nice to give them a try. Which of their three lords should I try first, in your opinion?

Zhatan is most oriented toward machinery since he can recruit trains for 50% less weapons but Drazoah make the more explosion by itself since he cast destructive AOE spells and mount a great taurus that can throw fire from his maw.

You can also play empire with Elspeth as she is focused on gun and have unique elit amethyst units. If you don't want having to def your guns you can bring steamtanks, mortar/riffle chariots, rifle/grenader/pistol light cav and free company milicias. Indeed those units are mobile and have guns/make some aoe explosions so i think that it fits well with your whishes ;)

Else i suggest you playing Lizardmen since they have many mobile and or self defended and or flying range AOE units. Also as you like named units, they have special blessed units that they recruit from their sacred pools.

At last your best option could be Skaven, they are the faction with the biggest diversity of unique explosive weapons and guns but need more to play defensively in order to protect your glass canon guners. Their spells and units have many AOE and bring such chaos on the battlefield which is very epic to watch. If you want a Legendary lord specialized on GUN and that make explosion hisself with magic + that can throw nuke and improve his hightech units with a unique laboratory it may be your dude.
An other cool Legendary lord that have the most customized so less boring individual units his Throt as he can mutate his units with a large pull of mutations from his laboratory, this way you can easily make each of your units on your army unique and cool. The counterpart of thort is that he is more focused on monstruous units so not so much AOE and guns

At the VERY last Dwarves have a lot of fire and AOE with their flying units, range infantries and artis but are very focused on a defensive style. Moreoever they are a lot focused on Heroes as they have unique slots for special items and banners that are crafted by their dwarf forges + they can craft a lot of unique items to fill the comon item slots that they shared with other races, it allow you to make each character very uniques
To play Dawi with many AOE and fire units i suggest you either Malakai who is focused on high tech units with a special lab to improve them or thorek who is the most focused on item forging of all dwarves. Belegar can be a good choice if you want to have a lot of heroes from start as he start with 4 unique legendary etheral heroes

A surprising number of factions fit those bills. Tzeentch, with dlc anyway, ends up fielding a metric ton of heros, blasting the map with spells from all sorts of lore while roasting the world with flamethrowers and fireballs. Can't go wrong with pyromania.

Chorfs as mentioned, empire could likely fit the bill.

Skaven sure do love mass destruction especially with very litteral nuclear bombs as an option. They can drown in heros too with all the endless dlc they got.

Chaos dwarfs have the dreadful dread quake cannon which is a thing of beauty when it scores a direct hit on a full unit of infantry. As a faction they are also deliciously evil to play

The one thay seems most interesting to you if I had to hazard a guess. You've got a bunch of options that all fulfill the criteria, make a decision.

Chaos Dwarfs are the faction for you. You can pick any of their lords and each one is able to confederate the others through their conclave system.
