Is Shadows of Change worth it?
I see that DLC has a lot of negative reviews. I wanted to play a Tzeentch campaign but I see some of their units are locked behind Shadows of Change. But then I saw the reviews and now I'm not sure if I should spend 20 bucks on it.

changling is fun, but the price was AWFUL at launch. Kislev gets tier 1 halberd men WITH Armor piercing so, yeah it's decently fun
it's amazing it just getting review bombed cuz of pricing

Well, to be fair, it's not exactly cheap.

I wish I could only get Tzeentch units but I guess I will have to get content for factions I don't intend to play. Not like it's the first time, though. I had to buy the beastmen DLC to have the entire rooster of Khorne units unlocked.

If you are only interested in tzeentch, skip it. Non of the dlc units are really important, and the changeling campaign is very Hit or miss. Not worth the money for only tzeentch.

Thanks for the advice. I will think about it.

Maybe I could play a quick Cathay campaign before the steam sales are over and see if I like the faction. Perhaps it could add some value to the DLC if I have at least two factions I like getting units.

100% this.

Not really 100%, this guy is just the ultimate shill. Not 100% wrong either, but I'd still say: SoC is very much not worth it. Save your money sir.

as has been explained, it is (or was) overpriced. this is why thrones was split into multiple parts. only buy it if you are actually interested in the factions and the units they add

Oh hey, I thought you finally dropped this self described terrible game and moved on.

Guess it's more fun to mald around in the forums though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: do you even own the dlc? I don't think you do, considering you have a long history of hating on this game, the devs, and people who enjoy it. Which makes your opinion here irrelevant and further confirms that you're a bad actor.

I like the Tzeentch stuff in it a lot. Mr 3 headed champion fill a great much needed niche and the melee lord you can spam spellcaster heros into is nice. The flying flamers are pretty busted if fragile. Quite fond of Tzangors as some earlier melee infantry and beastman factions also benefit. The big bird is a really nice addition to your airforce. Haven't tried the tzeentch centigors yet as cav isn't really important to tzeentch the flyer kings.

Changling is... interesting. I like him as a lord, you can really really do a lot of unique things with his trickster cults, those are the ultimate mess with everyone or pump up your allies feature. If you can believe it they are brutal enough I managed to nearly paint the map in Tzeentchian Rebels as they took settlement after settlement painting the map in Tzeentch on Legendary. Very Tzeentch, very manipulative, I adore them.

I 100% get the complaints of it being a novelty campaign though. Without any ability to lose or being in any danger at all ever it's purely a chillax campaign where you do weird things like make minor factions paint the map for funzies. I imagine he'll be amaizing for coop campaigns, very much looking forward to trying that.

Overall if you like both beastmen and Tzeentch I'd call it worth it even if you aren't too interested in the rest. Beastmen get a lot of units from this dlc from both the Tzeentch and Kislev additions. Easily could be considered a 4 race pack rather then 3.

If it had launched with the stuff added after release it would have gotten better reception, just to keep the steamreviews made before Soc 2.0 in perspective...and changeling is a different style of campaign some couldnt stand since its as far away from typical mappainting as a TW game can get---for others its been a fresh take--- Soc (for me) is better then its reputation

I own all the content for this series. I always buy the new content. You'll never have a bad time adding more content to the game.

kislev warriors are not strong lol

For me it was worth it - but I play all the factions, so I don't have to recalculate the value of what I get vs. what I want.

Yuan Bo is way to overpowered tho. If you feel like the other cathay factions are to weak, than he is fun. But I found the matters of state (which essentially gives him buffed province capitals at the end) made him feel like the strongest faction in general and therefore implying you shouldbjust dominate the whole world (buffed recruitment + buffed economy) - but since ordertide is a thing enemies were sparse.
